Opions about a used CL-S 6MT purchase

I got rid of my 02 CL-S about 5 months ago due to the tranny problems. For shits and giggles I was looking through ads and I found an early 03 CL-S 6MT w/o Navi for 13,500. The car has 83K on it. I have not looked at it in person yet, but the pictures reveal a flawless body on the car. I spoke with the guy and he swears it is super clean inside and out, just has high mileage. Now in this case I am assuming that the crappy value of the AT is rubbing off on the 6MT, which of course is beneficial to me. Now the problem is that the car has a wing and chrome rims, and I dislike both of those. I also must have my Navi. So, the dilema is, do I pick up this car, remove the wing, change the rims, and convert it to factory OEM Navi? Or do I wait for one with Navi at a good price?

What would you do?

Don't settle. Just wait it out and you'll eventually find what you're looking for. I took me a couple months to find the CL I have.

im not sure where you live, but in jacksonville, fl.(where i live) you will never find a 2003 cl-s 6spd (even w/high miles) for 13,500. SO MY ADVICE IS:--if $13,500.00 is a GREAT F'ing deal where you live (even w/out navi)ONLY IF ITS A GREAT DEAL! then you should get it. but if its possible to come across the same car for a little more or less every so often where you live, then you should just be patient...... 13,500.00!!! i drive an 01 cl-s slush box & they are still selling for 14500(private)-20,000(dealers)in jax!

Better check that car out thoroughly...may be an accident under that flawless exterior...

But, nothing says that it CAN'T be a good deal... good luck, just be careful.

Yeah I haven't seen a 2003, let alone a 6 speed, under 18,000. I'm going to take a look at it today. Not buy, but just look. lol. At least that is what I am telling myself.

If the car is clean, no accidents, nor damages... and you are ok with the high mileage you can buy. Myself, its way no many miles for a 2003... so I wouldn't buy, wait it out, and purchase the CL with no miles and nav. It just depends if you like the car the way it is. I would check it out, mechnically and cosmetically closely, cuz the price is dirt chap. Good luck with your choice

Sigh..... It is clean, very clean. Carfax is clean. Anyone think that 83K mileage on a 6MT is an issue?

Waaaa. It was sold when I went back. Either that or the guy hid it. Oh well, I'll find a prettier one.

I think 83k on a 2 year old car is kinda high period.. MT or AT.

was this the silver one in huntington beach? if so, i went to go testdrive that car. i am by no means an acura cl expert but this is what I noticed:

1. upon acceleration, the entire front end shakes like crazy. This isnt when you go WOT, this is even when you barely hit the throttle. Feels like theres driveshaft/transmission connection problems of some sort.

2. the drivers side aluminum trim was chipped and clear coat peeling in several places

3. shift knob heavily worn out

4. aftermarket exhaust sounded like crap. idled way toooo loud

5. alignment was a bit off and turning left required more force. Steering wheel would snap back when you make a U turn

6. slight rattle from passenger sunvisor area

7. clutch grabbed a bit too high, not too sure where they normally grab (first 6spd ive test driven)

8. rear trunk was shaved

Basically car looked to have been modded slightly and driven hard. They had it listed for $14500 when I went, I guess they lowered the price even more. Pretty much the car was beat. And it smelled pretty bad inside too.

I suppose it was. Glad to hear it was a POS after all. The guy sent me some pics which looked pretty good. I was trying to wait until after the rain storms to look at it in person. When I actually went there they said it was sold.

The search continues...... Not many 6MT around, at least for a reasonable price anyways.

"7. clutch grabbed a bit too high, not too sure where they normally grab (first 6spd ive test driven)"

Normal - cls clutch engages higher than any other I've driven

"6. slight rattle from passenger sunvisor area"

Sadly rattles are not that abnormal

"1. upon acceleration, the entire front end shakes like crazy. This isnt when you go WOT, this is even when you barely hit the throttle. Feels like theres driveshaft/transmission connection problems of some sort."

This one is scary and might well be a show stopper for me.
