opinions on new jag x-type
Right now, I'm against anything Ford comes up with. I can't tell you what pricks they were to deal with during the tire fiasco. I sold it and will never own another. My ex-mother in law has had 4 Jags and has nothing but problems with them.

In person... this car is plain beautiful.
It stole the show at the NY International Auto Show this year.
Almost everyone in the Javits center was crowding around the X-Type.
Problem is... your gonna see TONS of them on the road. Especially with that 28k base price... you know every schmuck who can scrounge for 28k will go get the base model just to think their pimp.

I agree with Soopa. I was one of those people crowding over the X-Type at the Javits center. It was on my list of cars to replace my CL, before I came to my senses and decided to keep it. With that price tag, too many people will have it.

Sat in it at the NY Auto show....neat little car, but by the time your done getting all the cool options (3.0, Xenons, Sport Package, etc) its going to like a $40k car- it tops out at $45k
, thats alot of money for a low line Jag.
Plus, they are going to be EVERYWHERE (as noted above)....the 2.5 looks just like the 3.0, and can be had for $30-$34k.
Its going to appeal to alot of people- single men, single women, married couples (young, middle age, old), rich college kids.

Nevermind the rich college kids... rich high school kids will have it!
I know 4 kids who are still in high school with C240's.
Now... I would be a fool to pay 50+k for a C32 and LOOK the same as the shithead down the road in a C240.
Same goes for the X-Type.

yup I agree with beltfed.. the 2.5 base with nothing in it will start at 28k but once little amenities are added to that the price will rise well over 30k and the 3.0 car model will run over 40k modestly equipped.

Coming from a family of Jag fans, this car bothers and upsets me. First off who ever heard of an affordable Jaguar. This is going to belittle the whole purpose of blowing all your money on a car. Example. We just paid 74,000 for the XJR sold it 2.5 years later and only got $42,000. That's great it cost us $32,000 to drive that car for 2.5 years. Now they are making a Jag for 32K. What about this base model shit, Allright by the time you do anything to it mid 30's. Now this opens a door to more people affording it cause resale will be good too. Personally and from experts the car sucks. Ford/Lincoln engine. Small back seat will be a loud non-Jaguar ride. Only good thing about it is there won't be many problems but there will be a lot more little shits thinking they are the shit because they now drive a Jag. Pretty much like 3 series Bimmer drivers. Sorry guys but for 90% of y'all it's true and you know it. Except for the M.

Well, its always been the case that Jaguars have had fairly shitty residual values . .....thats why their leases sucked for many years (their SC series cars leases still stink)- but now that Ford owns them, there have seen some descent lease programs in the last few years specifically on the XJ8 and S-Type models. The XJ series is "dated" and has been for some time- the residual reflects this.....look at the Benz SL series, same scenerio.
On to the X-Type, whether people like it or not- its been a long time coming with Jaguar sitting back offering their $55k-$95k cars while Benz and BMW are cleaning house with their entry level lines.
Today, people want style, class, and prestige without a spooky price.....they are going to get that with the new X-Type (with the S-Types huge success, this new car was a no brainer)....and Jag will profit BIG from it.
