Old SEMA CL vs new SEMA CL.

Aesthetics aside, I noticed a very interesting difference.

The former SEMA car did infact have modified body panels...

whereas...

The new SEMA car has a bolt on kit which LOOKS like the modified body.

Why did they do this? Is it maybe finally a possibility that Acura could offer this?

Granted none of us no for sure either way. But its definately looking promising.

We know they've listened to and responded to demand from this website before... we also know their beginning to offer factory performance packages on several of their cars... Accord/TL

Maybe their hinting at a future such package for the CL?

Either way... interesting difference for sure.

Nice observation soopa. Now we need a section devoted just for the body kit then see if LA times or some other newspaper journalist gets a hold of our site and does a report on, "Why acura does not offer performance packages for the Acura CL." hehe

the only part that i think needs help on the CL is the front. the stock front bumper just looks so plain and bland looking. the back and sides look fine to me. if they just made a more aggressive looking bumper for our cars, instead of that big smiley face we'd be set.

of course you noticed.... thats why i took the pics! haha.

no their not LED's... i dunno what they are... but their very big compared to the old bulbs.

Id suspect Acura is going to bring back the fog lights on the CL and use those higher powered yellow bulbs. Just as they should.

YELLOW OWNZ ME.

I just have one question about the kit though. Since it is a bolt-on kit that covers the lower side panels, how does it look in person? I mean does it stick out much killing the smooth lines of the CL? From your pics it doesn't look like it, soopa, but what do you think? Is it noticeable that much (in a bad way, of course)?

rod. it looks super clean... very impressive in fact.

it looks as if it has a modified body...

in person... i didnt notice that it was in fact bolt on until i peeled a panel away from the body and was like "whoa" then i started taking pictures of the seams and shit.

so then, if thats the case, its very possible for a kit like that to be ripped off by a car wash, etc..also, its very likely that the panels could just wear out from opening and closing the doors and could fall off, not to mention how rain, dirt, and debris could get stuck behind there, or the edges of the panels could scratch the actual body surface of the car...or how about how it would get scraped alot over speed bumps or bumping those parking spot curbs, etc....or how about how the exhaust tips would leave black stains around the tip and possibly melt the plastic/eurethane around it like you see on so many Civics and such with rice body kits...or how about the paint that would begin to fade or wear unevenly underneath the panels....the clear coat could fog up from too much condensation behind those panels....

seriously, this kit LOOKS sweet as hell, but the bottom line is that it would add ALOT of weight to our already very heavy CL-S and it would probably not due well in real world conditions..as a SHOW car, its awesome, but as a real word daily driver, a kit like that, especially with the door panel things, would probably be a nightmare
