OBX quality strikes again.

So it's a nice day and I decided to wash my car. Open the hoop and take a look at my headers and all. I look a little closer and can swear its a forming crack in the middle header. So now I'm thinking how long was it like that? I have to spend money to put the stock ones back on, 2 years no problem with them and now this. OBX are some scary headers to own now I look at the quality. I have a picture of the crack if someone wants to post it! I will email it to you.

its the principal of the fucking matter, that obx makes shitty products. many others have experienced similar problems with them.

I agree with you. There are so many people who just love justifying their purchases... regardless of what happens...

Same shit I went through with the Sumitomo tires. I gave up giving out my

I figure if they are happy, who am I to upset that....

wtf do you expect?? you could easily buy 2 more brand new headers until you reach the price of the comptechs.

I don't care how nice the comptechs are though, almost a G for headers is foolish... Justify it all you want

I definetly see your point with the $$ justification. (however I only paid $500 for my CT headers :P )

...

But it's like wheels for your car, some folks by original well designed ones. Others buy knockoffs of the good designs.

Yes, they both work. And the people who paid the most, bitch the loudest when things go wrong, but there is few people bitching. Where as with the knock-off buyers there is a lot of folks who bitch when the quality isn't up to par.

Your point is to just deal with the issues /w the lower quality product. While I agree, it's good for folks to tell when they have problems so other people can be aware of the issues.

I'm a buyer who likes to be informed... aren't you?

The headers are not making any odd noises, are those just spot welds and its welded from the inside?

$300 for headers=civic!

Why would anyone spend $30000 on a car and then cheap out on the $600 difference between OBX and Comptech-especially after hearing all of the horror stories AND seeing the pictures.

Sorry, but when I look at the Comptech headers I can tell that they are expensive and well made-they are a thing of beauty. Yes, I think $800 would be a more reasonable price for them, but none of Comptech's stuff is cheap--BUT, there also aren't many complaints.

Doesn't look like they're leaking. You may want to check with the car running to make sure though.

And why does not everyone have the most expensive tires on the 30K car? If it works, it does not have to be expensive.

btw, my beef with OBX was their poor customer service and their run around bullshits. It didnt take much to fix the crack though.

I am as neutral as Switzerland.... do what you like, I am sticking with Comptech and alot less headaches... I can sleep at night knowing I will not have to chase down a company and worry about swapping performance parts since they failed.

Well if you put it that way, then why do people that buy 30K auto's find themselves not having enough money to buy 1K headers?.....honestly, if you had the cash to blow, you would without a doubt buy the COMPTECH headers!!

That's an even worse scenario!

Why would you cheap out with what could amount to your life by putting cheap and/or under-rated tires on any car?!

Also, customer service goes a loooong way with me.

But, at the same time, to each absolutely their own.

this shit happens w/ nearly all products out there, I cant' tell you how many times some of my domestic friends have had to reweld their headers, exhaust, etc. It's the price you pay. You'd be amazed at how much shit out there comes for a car and needs to be custom fabricated to fit, it's BS but it's part of the business. Comptechs quality is super, but would you rather spend that 600$ for that quality or take the 30 mins it takes to have someone reweld it?

thats not a big deal. ive seen that before, it looks like a stress crack but there isnt any leaking i would bet.
just put your hand over it (be careful not to touch or your roast) while the car is runnning, if there is no leak, then keep driving and check it every oil change.

what about the money of taking them off and putting them on ??? unless your doing it youself....why would you want to go through the headache

obx headers =$300
installation = $200

your already at $500 now they crack oh well buy another for $300 and installation $200 now your at $1K and guess what no resale value on your headers

comptech headers = $1000
installtion = $200

your at $1200 and you can easily sell them for $600- $800 depending on condition so what have you actually spend

I bought my headers for $650 used and sold them for $650 when I sold the car so were is your loss

Lou,
Not everyone can front out 650+200 at once. Some of us cannot switch car every 6 months

It took me a little less than 30min to remove the defective bank and about the same time to put it back.

Btw, I dont think they charge 200 to remove and install just part of the headers.
