No ATF refill bolt?

Hey guys, I bought the fluid to do a drain and fill today and wanted to check to make sure I could get the refill bolt off before draining as I've read that it can be near impossible without an impact wrench to do. However I have found that I do not have the bolt seen in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YceQY...ailpage#t=128s. Where that bolt is I have what appears to be a hose. Attached is a picture of my engine bay, excuse the filth. No ATF refill bolt?-v1qw8.jpg Is there something else I should be looking for instead of that bolt?

Thanks.

I looks like you have a transmission cooler hooked up that bolt hole.

can't you use the ATF dip stick? That's what i did for my 6speed. Get a small tube and a funnel and pour slowly into your dip stick.

It's right there. You're looking right at it. Just remove that 10mm bolt, pull out the ATF injector, and pour in ATF.

No, not that one. The one to the left of it. In the picture, it says 12 on it.

No its the one just to the left of that one with the rubber hose coming off of it. Yours looks different because your car has had the recall work done to it and had the Oil Jet installed. Just remove the small bolt that holds itdown and pull straight up. That is your fill hole. You cant hurt the oil jet or install it wrong.

6 speeds dont have diptics.

And why would you pour it in there when its so much easier and faster to just fill it through the actual fill hole?

come to think of it that is how i filled it. (it was a like 2 years ago). I think i did use a tube to make pouring easier though.

on AT acura installed the jet kit in the place of the ATF fill bolt.

that thing with the bracket that says 12 on it is the jet kit which sits in the atf fill bolt spot..

unbolt that sucker with a 12mm i believe... maybe 14mm i don't exactly remember. then u'll have to give a good yank on the jet nozzle to release it from its position.

don't worry it's strong so it's not gonna break by yanking on it.

i ended up removing the jet kit altogether because acura put it there to prevent catastrophic 3rd gear failure. that jet kit actually takes fluid away from the 3rd gear clutchpack which is the MAIN problem with these cars. my clutch packs went 2xs on me so i decided to say F the jet kit so i get more flow/pressure going to everywhere else.

the jet kit drips fluid on the physical 3rd gear itself to prevent it from shattering causing violent stops and that's how acura got sued and the reason why the jet kit was put it.
this in turn just led to more 3rd clutch pack failures.

i just added a cooler and removed the jet kit which is the proper more expensive way of fixing the issue.

Did the deed today, absolute ton of metal on my drain bolt, not too happy about that. Trans does seem to shift smoother now though. Unsure if that's a placebo or not though.

You have a LOT of mis information here. The oil jet has nothing to do with the 3rd gear issue. It is for the 2nd gear shaft. It also does not take away fluid from3rd gear clutchpacks, nor does it lead to more failures. Also adding a trans cooler is not the proper way of fixing the issue nor will it help. The issue is internal and has to do with not enough fluid being able to get to the 3rd gear drum assembly. Adding a cooler wont help this.

Yes there are opinionated facts, mis-information, guesses, and factual statements out there. The info i posted is factual. I went thru 5 trans, rebuilt one myself and have physically seen the damage. I also went thru 4 trans WITH a trans cooler. Simple fact is is its an internal issue. Sure cooling helps the overall trans health, but it does nothing nor addesses the issue of getting fluid to the clutchpacks for 3rd gear
