nightshades removal

i have a pair of 01 taillights that currently have nightshade tint sprayed on it. i was wondering what would be the safest way to remove it so that i can redo the tint. paint thinner? or should i just wetsand down the existing coat? reason i'm asking is cuz there are some pretty big scratches on the paint.

speaking of wetsanding, exactly how do you go about doing this? i searched but there weren't any detailed instructions. do u just spray on water and sand it down? thanks in advance.

ive tinted my tails before with tint spray. do not sand them your gonna end up scratching the lenses. nail polish remover worked the best, but it will take a while. paint thinner was not as effective. hope this helps.

Wouldn't paint thinner (turpentine) or nail polish remover (acetone) melt the plastic?

Well, I used clear coat spray to remove tint spray on my other car couple years back and it worked like charm without melting the lens.

Guess he could try it. Maybe the acetone is diluted way down in the remover. I'd look very closely to make sure it doesn't leave a hazy finish on the surface. Since acetone in model glue works by literally melting the plastic pieces together, I would be very careful.
