Help Guys, car won't start.

My car wont start, when I turn the key, I hear a loud 'RAT RAT RAT RAT RAT RAT' coming from the engine. I know my battery is good, as i just replaced it, I maintain the car well also. no CEL either.

Any ideas?

This car is a cert pre-owned so I get powertrain coverage up to 100k miles, hopefully that will cover it.

Have you tried to jump it? Even if the battery is good try to jump it. Follow the - cable from the battery. It should have this exposed wire at the end near the starter. See if that's ok. I doubt it's the starter directly.

sounds like low battery to me, you could have a dead alternator that didn't charge your battery after the few days.
Theres no harm in trying to jump start your car, as long as you do it properly.

Its not the battery, he said his headlights come on fine. The fast clicking sound is usually indicative of a bad starter/solenoid. You wouldn't even hear that sound if it was the battery.

I had cars that clicked, & all the lights worked fine, & wouldn't start. A new battery made it start.

exactly, enough current to turn on the headlights, but the cranking draws way to much so not enough.

and when thats the case it does do the "ratat" click noises you described.

ASSUME = ASS OF U & ME
in this case, maybe just ASS OF U & U

I don't mean to be an ass, but trying it won't harm.
