I've been around here about two weeks reading things and getting to know about the Type-S which I hope to purchase one day.
R&T and some publications were stating about 6.5 0-60. Are they that far off? I'm seeing very low 6's on here if people are telling the truth.
What suprises me is what I've heard about the CompTech headers. How are headers giving the Type-S so much more acceleration?
I never thought headers could do so much for a car. I'm used to being around 4-cyl Hondas though; forgive me. Are the headers worth it? How does she sound stock and with headers? I haven't heard or ridden in one yet. Tell me what yall think of these cars.
Is it worth the 30k?
I'm tempted to buy one if my Prelude ever dies. Tell me about the car...make me all happy and giddy while I'm stuck here at work!

Welcome to the board!!
0-60 tests for the CL-S have ranged from 6.4 - 6.8 so 6.6 is a good average and probably very accurate. 1/4 mi is anywhere from 14.7 to 15.2 sec. People who are getting low 6's stock are using G-Techs which are of questionable accuracy.
The Comptech headers give a peak of 27hp to the wheels. One member got a little over 30hp, I believe. I think Comptech has a dyno on their site: www.comptechusa.com
The headers are a bit expensive, but I think well worth it. They give you the extra power above 5000rpm. I've seen a video of a race between 2 CL-S and the one with headers probably had 3 cars on the other one by 80mph!! Pretty impressive. Mid 14s are very possible with just headers. Add an intake, lightweight wheels and a V-AFC and you're seeing high 13s
The headers produce a slightly raspy engine note, but they are no more noisy than stock. Comptech springs and sways do wonders for handling - I just got those. Headers are still on my list. The car is very much worth $30K. Most people on here (biased, I admit) will probably tell you the car is worth at least $35K. There's nothing out there under $45K that I would have given a serious thought over this car. It's a very nice sport-luxury coupe, with the emphasis on luxury, not sport.

People that are using the V-AFC are using it to lower the VTEC Crossover right? If so, how much lower are they setting it? What is the stock crossover range?
I like what you said about that race...I'm anxious to see how much a CAI will help.

Since I don't have my Type-S yet I'm not sure where the V-TEC kicks in. On my model it kicks in around 3500-3700RPM. I think it's set a little higher on the new CL. You should post these questions in the Car Talk forum... you'd probably get a lot more responses!! Oh yeah, welcome to the board

Now add 2 people, a full tank, 70-80 F day, and I'll bet the GTECH will show the 6.4-6.8 0-60 times. The GTECH is a tool, and it is easy to screw it up if the directions are not followed!!!
BTW -- I'm not going to tell GTECH how to fix their unit. BUT, an inertial system, properly designed would be very accurate (better than a 3rd wheel [in my opinion]). The unit would need some enhancments (I'm not saying) to make it fool proof.

I think GoldTypeS is pretty much dead on with the line It's a very nice sport-luxury coupe, with the emphasis on luxury, not sport. The car is super schweet and I have tracked mine several times. The car is intended to be driven hard in a straight line moreso than in hard cornering. It has more than a tendency to push and aside from a major lift, will not rotate "as is" stock. Gold, are you getting any rotation with the rear sway bar? That and springs seem like they would take a bit of the luxury out and put in a bit more R (I mean sport).
