Well i thought when my tranny went the good times were over. Well there not Zapta and hooked up yesterday for some fun of SIX SPEED VS AUTO. And let me tell you it was close but the auto WON. We ran all spots were the cars are hot. we ran from 40 mph 60 mph and at a toll from about 10mph. We video taped it but it was dark so i think we do have 2 good runs on video that Zapta is going to post later. I do believe my car is going to pull a 14.4 in cool weather. The new MDX TECNOLOGY they told me about is working in my auto.

Let me preface this by saying that Nitrotigers car is FREAK! That car must be putting down atleast 210whp.......STOCK. I have no shame in loosing to him I would LOVE to see RobG and nitrotiger go head to head.

In another highway race....sorta, Xenon7 and I went head to head and I was able to hold him off. He only has a CAI.

Yes, yes. My car got spanked. Now we didn't get many clear straight ahead runs because of traffic.

1st gear runs.....

only one but he pulled hard. One observation.....that thing that Allmotor was talking about with the power cutting out.....it was a HUGE and i mean HUGE problem.


2nd gear runs......

none

3rd gear runs.......
dead even. We were at 40mph and I was at 5k RPMs. He said he was at 6500rpm.

4th gear runs......
80mph running at 4k RPM and he was at 5k RPM. Here gearing clearly favored Nitrotiger.


Analysis:
Now i'm running heavy ass a/s tires so i know that's a factor. Once spring rolls around and i can slap on some lighter tires and rims i'd like to see how the car does.

On the highway......the automatics have a slight advantage in terms of shifting as their power delivery is smooth and the 6 speeds will need to shift a bit more.

I would like to learn more about the MDX tech too!

Also, I spoke with many drivers that is actively involved in the drag racing scene. They say that unless the driver is an excellent driver, and has perfected the art of speed shifting, then majority of the time two identical car, one with auto, one with manual.. the auto will win more often because of its consistency. That is of course that we are assuming that both drivers are your "average" daily drivers\weekend racers.

 

Ooh I wanna race Zapata too. That way he can get spanked by a CL and a TL auto.

i think its the same components which the actual new MDX tranny has.. stronger i would imagine... to withstand 260HP and 250LBS?

No word is that it's just the new trannys. I would think it's bigger stronger carrier bearings and a different torque converter.

 

COOL nice kill..... I guess its all about drivers... cuz i drove my friend's 6spd... since he doesnt know how to drive it good... his car was completely stock, and i busted a 14.51, with a 0.51RT, and 2.0XX 60"... and i did ran against several full bolt-ons auto TypeS, and i always lead and pulled away...

so i guess the 6spd thing, like i always tell my friend, having a 6spd, doesnt mean you are faster, cuz if he messed up on launching and shifting, adios...

hehe, BTW, i always run with with my CLP (14.72-as of 12/11/02), and I always have the head lead till like 100+ till i shift into 4th, then its ALL 6spd!

 

You're kidding right??? IMO, it's not worth driving the "FUCK out" of your car for it because think of all the other parts that not in the extened warrenty or the regular warrenty.. like tires... they can be pretty spendy too..

i had my tranny replaced about 2 months ago and i swear that my car rides better..faster....can anyone explain this to me?

 

I wonder if Honda put a new more aggressive 4th gear in?

part ,if not all of your problem is in the tire...225/50 is a much larger roll diameter plus more weight is moved outward ,a double wammie

just rev in neutral and shift into drive rather than driving the fuck out of your car so only ur tranny fucks up, still you dont know if your gettin the mdx tranny, u might get the same tranny and still have to wait a long time for it.

Still i rather have a 6 speed, i always use my tiptronic crap but in my blood i feel the need for stick.

 

I'm not surprized, mine pulls the same way. You can't shift faster than an automatic.

I raced Nitro's car and it is fast as hell. Hey Nitro when you giveme another shot at that CL of urs all I have now is just SSR Comps cause I took out the AEM. Maybe Zapata can hook up too and race for pride or better yet bragging rights.

I'd like to race you one time Zapata (if we get together at the track again next season)... With my 9.31 1/8th, I should be running around 14.4 in the 1/4 which I think would give your 6-speed a good run

(although I need headers to keep up with Nitro's almost stock auto)

 

Other than street racers, people buy manuals because they like to shift, they like the control and they like the enhanced participation in driving.. 1/4 mile times or 0-60 has nothing to do with it... Automatic cars are boring.

I know a few people that got transmissions a few months a ago, and they are doing fine. (Funny, no MDX technology mentioned back then or they were avoiding giving the good trannies to the most visible victims [see LA TIMES article]).

To take a number of unproven premises:

1. The trannies are now built with "MDX" technology
2. The trannies are faster than ANY previous transmission
3. Since I beat one guy in a 6-speed, the tranny must 'da shit.

and conclude the new tranny is "special" is insane (or at least worthy of a trip back to Critical Thinking 101).

I hope the people out there that are considering doing the neutral drops and abusing their transmissions are aware that WAY before this time, there were people getting transmissions that felt great (and were just the "rebuilt" transmissions).

The stories have come again and again about bearings, torque converters, and other parts being "upgraded" and some people just went along and had no troubles and others blew up at 500 miles.

Stop the madness...

 

Hmmm... F1 cars and the Jim Hall's auto equipped Chaparral are definitely boring. I'm surprised that anyone would want to see or drive a car without a clutch much less pay to see a race with auto-equipped race cars.

Well put. I had a slushbox, and now have a 6spd... The 6spd (in my case) was faster, but the drive is MUCH better now (even if the speed was the same).

Hey Guy's the six speeds are fast and are faster on most cases they should be making 8 to 10 whp more. For some reason my ride had been touched buy the CL GOD when Atco raceway opens again will meet up and all try and rip some goodtimes. they open up again Jan 5 on sundays only for Jan and Feb.

Your friend's 6spd had a complete set of pulleys. But it should be able to go faster considering i/h auto ran 14.8 (slowwwwwwwwwwww) best that day.

Where did this "MDX Technology" rumour come from? I guess the 2003 Accords would have a better transmission too?

Probably have to wait another 6 months before Acura/Honda gives official word.

Can somebody please clarify this for me. Are you guys saying that Acura is now putting in MDX trannies for the people with CL's that blow their stock trannies? Am I hearing this right? If not, please assist.
