Need quick feedback about dealer replacing brake pads
My car is at the dealer right now for a few things including my brakes which are starting to get warped. They said they will resurface the rotors for free, but if I needed new pads I would be responsible for paying for them as well as the labor. Is this B.S. or what? According to T.S.B. 01-017 it states that updated pads should be installed along with turning the rotors. Should I assume this covers 2003 models as well? How bad would it be to have the rotors turned without having the pads replaced? Would this cause them to warp again quickly?
Thanks, J.T.

I can send it to you by e-mail if you need it.

I got mine replaced under warranty a few weeks ago. I had about 60% of the original pad left. The dealer said that if a small amount was left (i.e. 10%), then i would have to cover the cost of new pads. I think that is reasonable, but you should see how much pad you have left.

My 6 speed has 12k miles, dealer replaced all 4 pads and all 4 rotors with new 'upgraded' parts for free. They tried turning the rotors, did not help! They said it was rare, cause even the back rotors were causing vibration.
Might be that it is a brand new dealer and they are giving good customer service to build a customer base, I don't know. There was never any discussion that this would not be covered under warranty for free. They also adjusted the hand brake to 6 clicks, it's finally tight now!

The new bulletin only includes the replacement or refinishing of the bads, is there a new bulletin for the rotors?

Also of note - The repair procedure details how the tech needs to measure the rotor to ensure proper thickness for a grind. I think that's reasonable. But then they say that if the rotor is to thin - to replace it with a new rotor and then grind the new one. Why on earth would you resurface a brand new rotor? That just seems like a dumb thing to do.

Didnt look close enough my bad. Anyhow I do see it says they have to measure to see if everything is still under warranty and if it isnt they may do it as a goodwill if they want. I hope with 15k i didnt use up too much of my brake pads.
