need new brakes asap
I have 31k on miles and dealer says I need new brakes, both front and back.
Im not sure if its just the calipers or rotors as well.
Anyways anyone know of good aftermarket breaks preferably not more expensive than stock ones.
He wants me to pay 600 dollars to replace the breaks with parts and labor.
Also is it common to replace brakes this early, thanks guys.

Kind of related...I've got 52k on my 2001 cl and was gonna get a new car but I'm deciding to keep this for another couple years and I'm gonna need new brakes also. Should I let acura do them or would it be ok if I took it to Midas or someone like that and saved some money?

$600.00 seems pretty damn high for a brake job. Just to give you an idea, I just passed 30k, and I got the EBC Greenstuff pads front and rear ($89 front, $69 rear), and pulled the four rotors off and had them turned ($11 each) and put it all back together. The rotors had plenty of life in them and the pads are much better IMO than the stock pads I had on.
The only thing that I can say about getting work done at the dealer is, if you develop any problems you can take it back and TRY and get them to fix it if it hasn’t been too long. A few months after I did my brakes I developed a slight shudder when I braked at high speed. I pulled the pads and found that one was stuck, and causing the brakes to be pulled from one side only. I had the rotors re turned, and cleaned and lubed the area where the brackets where the pads are held in. Now the breaks feel great again. But it would have been nice to be able to go back to the dealer and say FIX THIS. Because I did it myself, I had to fix it myself, but the money I saved, and the satisfaction I get now that my breaks are good made any hassle worth it to me.
By the way, it did take a long time for my new pads to break in, and the brakes were shit before they did. Be very, very careful when you have brake work done, no matter WHO does it!

You can buy Brembo OEM blanks from tirerack.com for around 50 bucks.
It is VERY uncommon to have to replace ALL the "brakes" at 31K, especially the rear when 80% of the braking is absorbed by the front. What year is your car? But as you probably know most of us have problems/issues with the front braking components (rotors more specifically). I can see having to replace the front rotors and pads. Have someone else take a look at the car as well.

Have 13K miles and noticed steering vibration when braking from high speeds. Dealer fixed it by resurfacing the rotors and replaced old brake pads with new upgraded pads from Acura. I was told Acura has better pads for our models. Unfortunately, they were not originally put on the car..............anyways here are your choices.......
1. Brembo package for about $2200
2. Wildwood package for about $1700
3. Comptech Route with SS lines, etc.. for about $500
Why are you paying for this. It should be under warranty if you only have 31K miles on your car?

I just had my 30K service done and asked them to check my brakes again (replaced at 13K first time). I get my car back and they again replaced the rotors/pads for the front.
Make them replace it under warranty.... It helps to do a major service if they replace the brakes under warranty..
