my bosses son(22) and i leave a meeting yesterday go at it getting onto grand central pkwy(queens) from 15mph to 90+ i sayed on his tail, he could not pull on me.
pulled up next to him and said lets go 50-100, we did this 3 times, both in second gear(i love v tech at 5000rpm) 2 times he jumped the signal, but i kept right up, the 1 time we actually went together, i actually beat him to 90 mph by 1/2 car, had to stop because of traffic.
for all you flamers, we both were driver and passenger of about equal weight and he knows how to drive, i heard his shifts as my sunroof was open(not to smart on my part). if we would have equal starts, i probably would have beat him all 3 outright.
i figure i have 1 kill, 2 maybes

Being that it was a vert and you went from a 15 roll rather than stop, it's plausible. I would expect him to pull slightly on you, but not much at all.

On the 50-100 race, did he start in 2nd gear or did he go with 3rd? If he was in 3rd, he was way to low and you might have been able to beat him.

Just remember, anything can happen on the street and you beat a car that can run 14 flat at 100 with a good driver all day long.

 

knowing i was going to get flamed in one way or another, i did say we were both in 2nd gear.
i do believe that from a standstill, he would probably jump on me, but from a roll or from 50 mph, being in the heart of vtech, i think it was right on the money. remember, it was a conv., extra weight

 

good kill put a CAI in and you prolly would've done better.

i asked him today and he was at 4000 rpm in 2nd at 50mph

i felt from early on that i had one of the fast ones

Sorry, but unless you actually beat him, it's not a kill. What you coulda-woulda-shoulda done does not make it a kill.

 

Honeslty thats great to hear. Cuz now i know im not the only one keeping up with mustang GT. Although i never raced a manual one yet. :P
