My Other Buick

Hey guys, my other Buick is almost complete, so I thought I would post a couple of in progress picts. The only thing I am waiting on is the new carb. Other than the current Carter AFB not quite working right, it is wasy to small for the Big Block Buick.

The car is a 1967 Electra 225 Convertible
The engine is a 67 430CI(bored .060 to 440CI), the new carb is an Edlebrock 750CFM electric choke.(Replacing the way undersized Carter AFB 625 CFM).
Stock HP was underrated at 360HP and 475TQ(some places say 450TQ, I don't know which is correct, but I think it is adequate). The car weighs in at a svelt 4300lbs...dry without driver.

This is just a shot of the beast after it was DRIVEN out of the shop for the night. It sleeps inside. It is in desparate need of a good day of TLC, make that a month of TLC. But from 20 feet, it looks great.

So how do you make a 440CI big block look small, put it in an nearly 19ft long monster. Notice on the drivers side, there is a bracket with a cable connected to it. I guess Buick engineers were a little worried about nearly 500lb ft of TQ destroying motor mounts. That is a stock TQ strap. LOL

Another shot of the motor, this side from the passenger side, gotta luv that Buick Red(nee Orange) paint.

I'll take a ton of pictures after I get her home and cleaned up. This week, the dogs get kicked out of the garage, and it gets cleaned up for the SS Dave.

So far, the unexpected extras are
new starter $60
New rocker arms$250
temp sensor$12 + $12 for express mail
new battery(the old one was only 2 years old, but would not take a charge).$???
New plug wires(again only 2 yrs old, but he replaced them anyway...oh well.)$???
NEw Carb. $310
There is one other small item, but I forgot.

So, in parts, I should only be around $700 over, I call that a victory, wait a minute, I forgot the new shortblock. $350. DOH.

So I guess my factor of 3 was not needed. The original estimate was for around $2300, and I think I will come in at around $3400. I budgeted $1K over the estimate, so I am doing OK. shhhh, don't tell my wife.

Umm, can you guess I am done modding the Regal for a while? LOL mod fund is now officially depleted, and the 225 needs so much more work. After she gets home, the first order of business is to address the brakes(inspect/repair), and the tops rear window.

Thanks guys, Hopefully I'll get her back this Friday or Sat. I ordered the new Edelbrock 750CFM carb today. Should be installed by Friday. The 750 is the minimum CFM recommended by the Buick gurus, the Carter that is on there is a 625CFM. DOH!!!!

Anyway, look for complete picts soon.
