My first race with a g35 coupe.

Last nite on westheimer....a black one pulls next to me.It was an auto and mine is a 6spd ;-) He rolls down his window and ask if i wanted to go at it..i said hell yea...then he warns me "U dont know wat i got" lol...thats probably the fastest car he ever had for him to say that so confidentaly and assuming i dont know much bout cars...hah...anyways..we take off right away on green no questions asked....i killed him ,gaining on him on every shift and by the time i hit 3rd i was a full car lenght..i thought the race would be over but he kept it floored and so did i.....the speed limit was 55 but we managed to hit 110 mph + and the distance never changed....1 car lenght..all the way.....
After this race all my impatience of not waiting for a m3 next year and getting a g35 coupe Now has gone away...i will gladly wait for the m3....the coupe is nice...but is not all that in performance ...its funny hows infiniti's 280 hp vs acura 260 hp vs bmw 225 hp r neck to neck in performance....

no Not cool... doing 110+ from a stop light is just fuckd up...

BTW, I never saw a road with stop light with speed limits of 55 MPH... such roads are 40-45 MPH max...

HW are caped at 55-65 MPH...

Maybe not in your neck of the woods, but head south here on some state raods and there are plenty of two-lane state highways with stop lights which resume to 55mph afterwards.

But I do agree... 110mph isn't the brightest move in the world.

The problem is that the driver in the G sucked bootay. He should've tourque braked and he did not and I am sure he did not turn off his Traction control thus he lost. Its very hard to race a stick shift car by just meshing the gas.

The race against a 6spd Z would be a no-contest for the Z. The CLS will get tourched.

He is right, I don't think there is a stop light that you can legally drive thru at 55mph. Most states will step it down right before you come thru and back up to say 60 or 65 max when you exit the intersection. To my knowledge, there are no non-insterstate highways more than 65. But then again, I haven't been to all 50 states....just 49 of them. Hello Hawaii.......

I have to totally disagree. The G35 Coupe Auto is not very fast at all. Most of the magazines including the new C&D have the G35 6-speed SLOWER than a manual CLS.

I have an auto CLS with headers and intake and ran a 14.4, which is not much slower than a stock Z. If the Z is modded, then our cars have little chance, but they are not THAT much faster.

#1 nice kill
#2. I'm with cusdaddy I think if you put a new Z 6 speed stock up against a new CL-S 6 speed stock they run pretty even(I'd say within .2 seconds of each other in the 1/4)
now if the Z did some mods yeah it would smoke the CL-S but the Z is pretty similar:P

BTW, street racing @110mph is a no no...but good run

The G Coupe is PIMP! It's actually pretty fast for a 6...

I know someone that just got one and I hate to say...he beat my buddy's 99 GS400 5 out of 5 runs. They're both stock, I guess my buddy with the GS deserved it for talking so much smack and not giving any props at all saying stuff like "it's just a Nissan with leather, blah blah blah" I'm like, dude, your Lexus is the same if you look at it that way.

In any case, the G Coupe is very nice looking. That car would be on my top 5 cars to get. I'm still trying to sell my 540 and get an M5 (can't find out that's depreciated to shit yet)

I agree with your assessment. My Track model Z could only muster a 14.6 at a crappy Track with Temp of 82F and Humidity of >60%. Comparing this with Bulaculla's CL-S 6spd, he ran a 14.7. Mind you, this was on a different day, and we didn't run against each other.

The G35 coupe 0-60 and 1/4 mile time is listed slower than the CL-S 6 speed according to C&D. And I believe it's 260 hp as well, not 280, but I may be wrong. The Z on the other hand, is a 5.4 shot to 60 and a 14.1 1/4 (Track version). A guy at Rosenthal Nissan in DC said i could have an Enthusiasts model for 27K, with less than 1K down, very reasonable. Don't like the interior and no back seat though. Very tempting, but I'm putting alot of work into my CL and want to hold on for a while. If anything, within 2 years, would get the RX-8.

Well I have now driven the snot outta a Cl-S, CL-S 6-speed, G35 and G35c 6-speed. These cars are almost IDENTICAL in acceleration. No joke, it is so close, it's not even funny.

But, OMG, I drove Dr. Rick's car at our meet yesterday, it handles INCREDIBLY, amazing. I want my GS to handle like that.

The G35 sedan is rated at 260hp and the G35 coupe is at 280hp. The Z on the other hand is 287hp.

friends dont let 1sicklex drive their cars

now back to the topic...MT got the coupe to 60 in 5.83 and the quarter mile at 14.23 at 99.xx. for comparisons sake, the Z did it in 5.6x and 14 flat at 101.xx (same day, same track) now i am not one to magazine race, but since no one has driven the coupe at the track, i will go with these numbers. i have seen guys getting 14.5s in the sedan, which is down 20 hp and and automatic. we will just have to wait and see. whether that will be this weekend, who knows...........

Yes you are right. That stretch of road between 6 and I-10 is long with no lights or stop signs. you can easily hit over 100. also no buildings around as well.
