CarPoints reviews are ludicrous!

Almost all their data on everything is incorrect...

Unlike Car & Driver... I dont think their problem is biased... I think their just f- morons.

I've got one thing to say...

"hahahahahahhahaha....."

I just found the carpoint's irresponsibility really funny... you know whoever reviewed our car must've been really short or had really short legs, since he/she couldn't even press the gas pedal half way!!

Isn't Carpoint a car buying service? How does providing accurate information regarding Acura CL performance data help them make more money?

It doesn't. So why the expectations?

I must comment on this one! First, consider the source. Second, and never forget this,"THERE IS NO CURE FOR THE DUMB ASS".

On the carpoint page there is a place for comments in the CUstomerservice section I say we all drop a bomb on them. 1 letter wont do jack if we flood their cust service with the proper stats from a real driver maybe they will test drive again, this time leavin grandpa at home.

Here's mine..........my subject matter was "accuracy".

Dear Carpoint,
Enjoy your service and articles but must take issue with Dan's figures regarding the 2001 Acura CL and CL-S 0-60 times. Common sense alone would dictate that the same car with 35 more horsepower would not be .1 second slower to 60mph. He quotes 8.0 sec for the 225hp CL and 8.1 sec for the 260hp CL-Type S ????!!!! All the major auto magrags quote anywhere from 6.4 to 6.7 for the CL Type S. What gives?
Thanks, Bill

Carpoint,
The results you posted for the Acura 3.2CL type S were disturbingly inaccurate. Your website listed the Normal CL as being 1 second faster to 60mph the type S. I own a type S and there is no way it takes me 8 seconds to get to 60 I can do that in my 97 Altima. In the CLS I average at the track 6.2. After the modifications I added I now do 0-60 in 5.8. The test driver that performed the test drive on the 2 Acura Coupes was complacent in his efforts to bring the truth to the American public. The documented top speed for a stock CLS is 145. I have achieved this speed at the track why couldn't your driver? It appears to me that CarPoint rather post inaccurate information rather than display the true information that pertains to a performance machine. In any light, misrepresentation is a crime against the consumers of America. Now I am going to forward this email to every one I know until It is known that CarPoint is an unreliable source for correct information when it comes to purchasing a car.

Disgusted

Good job I'll add my letter wrote it in A hurry but here
I would like to ask you where you got your info on the 2001 CL-S. You state on your page (http://carpoint.msn.com/Vip/Heraud/Acura/CL/2001S.asp) that the CL-S (you call it the 2001 CL 5 speed-automatic no mention of the type s) that the 0-60 is 8.1 seconds when the manufacturer's stats are 6.57 seconds and I personally own one and I know that 8.1 is not right also the Top end on the CL-S is not 124 the fuel cut-off on this car is 145 mph not 124 mph also the quarter-mile time on this car is a in the 16 seconds defending on the environment (temperature humidity and so on). Please if you are going to be relied on by people planning on purchasing a car provide the right statistics for the cars you have listed.

One thing I noticed about carpoint is that every Honda vehicle gets a horibble time. The Integra GS-R was at 16.3 or something ridiculous like that. My GS-R stock ran a 15.7. If you look at the Camaro and Mustang times they are A LOT better then what they can really do.

Here's my response!!!

Your test driver Daniel needs to be fired from your firm. You guys are morons to say that the top speed of the new Acura cl-s is 124 Mph. I EASILY did 150mph in this vehicle last week. Also, How do you figure that a 260hp machine is SLOWER then a 225 hp machine? Come-on guys? Did someone pay you off to post this INCORECT data? What kind of tester did you have driving this vehicle? Grandpa?

Man, You people have SOME nerve to post these numbers. COMON SENSE is the KEY word here fellas. Remember, The higher the HP in a car, usually the faster, ESPECIALLY when the cars are IDENTICAL (cl-p and cl-s)

Bottom line. If you cannot post someone what correct data, then you should not be in this business.

I think you should come over to www.acura-cl.com and check out JUST how many people you have upset with these numbers.

haha

Yeah you know, I used to think that the CL-S wasn't capable of a 6.7 0-60...I always trusted MSN Carpoint's #s, so really, they screwed me big time. Before I found the forum, I was waivering between the 6.7 0-60 from Acura, and the 8.1 that Carpoint offered...I mean car manufacturers inflate their #s all the time, I was assuming that Acura was just doing the same. So basically I thought the CL-S was a much slower vehicle than it really was.

*sigh* those faggots, they scared me out of a lot of potential street races. Thank god I found this place...otherwise I'd still be deluding myself thinking I had an 8-second car...

I couldn't take it anymore. Here is my e-mail

To whom it may concern,
I just finished reading the reviews of the new CL and I am very disapointed at the lack of accurate information. The 0-60 times as well as the top speeds were horribly mis-calculated. Upon further reading the other staff member that conducted a review had completeley different times. I know there are many variables that may lead to different times, but a two second difference is unexecusable. The bio on Daniel states how great and respected in the industry he is. It is ashamed that he could be this irresponsible doing something he is supposed to be an expert in.

Sickened,
Justin Holmes

I wrote them a letter too and copied Acura customer support too. I also sent a note from the Acura.com site alerting them to it. I would think if it made its way to the right person they might react.

They are terrible, look at this 5 series stats. They say the m5 has a 5 speed auto and has worse braking than the 540i. I think it has been establish that the numbers for acceleration are all slow. This guy probably tests them without spinning the tires.

There are also 2 new models, 530i and 525i. But also i don't even remember the 528 having a 4 speed auto.

I got a response from the Acura Web support people who said they would "definitely forward this to the interested parties at Acura"

I also replied to them inviting them to stop by here. We'll see if I get another email back.
