MP3 CHANGER CUSTOM INSTALL with PICS!! (dialups beware)

Since All the radio stations in Miami, Florida SUCK ROYAL ASS, I decided to create my own
using the NEO35 MP3 JukeBox. I bought 2 units because my friend wanted one but he totaled his car and now I am selling the second unit. Email me at
ridewaves@aol.com if you are interested.

The Neo is a Hard Drive Based MP3 Player holding 30 GIGS of Music (That's
your entire library and much, much more). It can be trunk mounted and has
a wired remote control with the same display and buttons as the head unit and
also has a wireless remote control too!! It is installed just like a CD changer
via an RF Modulator or an Amp with RCA cables which are both included.
This kit is amazing because it comes with EVERYTHING you need to install it in
ANY car. However, I was not comfortable having some wired box floating
around my car so I decided to do a custom install.

Since I dont use my sunglass holder, I figured it could be modified to hold
the remote display. It still opens and closes just like stock and when its
closed you cant tell it was ever touched. For those of us with leased
cars, this is cool b/c if you have to replace the part...its just a cheap
plastic piece, and if you dont, when closed, you cant tell it was ever touched. See pictures below to see how it looks now. I have also
included step by step pictures on how to do this yourself in this car. I
forgot to take pics of the sunglass holder before I put it back in, so use your
imagination for the mods I had to do.

First I must thank BLK^5 for telling me how to access the Radio Antenna.
It was his first post and he replied to my previous post with detailed and step by step instructions saving me time and
sanity. I used his directions and included my pics here to demonstrate.
THANKS MAN!!

Thanks for the compliment. I rarely use my shades so I just put them in the glove box.
The volume is still controlled by the factory radio but you can increase the volume coming from the MP3. It also has a built-in EQ with presets but you can customize one too. The track names show up on the remote...this is the close-up pic of the display:

I bought the unit for $485.00.
I know its a little expensive and I have been saving up for a while. I have seen some of these on Ebay and other places, but they are the older units with a different wired remote and main unit. The controls were cheap and poorly designed. The company redesigned the unit and the NEW MODELS came out only about a month ago. Beware because some people selling them link to the new model pics but really sell you the older model which is BUTT UGLY. You will be really pissed when you get it.
I will sell the unit for exactly what I paid + shipping. If anyone is interested, email me at RIDEWAVES@AOL.COM"

That is a awsome set up. I got two questions for you thoguh.
1. How did you run the wire remote up to the glasses holder?
2. How do you add more files to the player? Is there a dock that goes on the computer or something?
Nice job on the installation!

2. The Player is hard-drive based, meaning that it works like the old "pull-out" radios. You plug it into a bay on your computer and load the songs then you pull it out and plug it into the car bay you install in the trunk. The player does a search for all the songs in about 5 seconds and starts playing them immediately. The controls work like any cd player.

Man that's tight.
One question: how high a bitrate will the player play?
Most of my mp3s are 192, 256, or 320 kbps. If I did such an install I'd want to be able to play them all and not have them degrade to 128 to be played.

It will play any mp3 bitrate up to 320. The shitty thing is that you have one song playing at 96 then the next one at 192 and the next one at 128 so the sound quality is always changing from song to song. I disnt care before when i downloaded them. But Now i am going to rip all my cd's and consistently record them at 192 or higher to get that quality sound.

so can you transfer all your cd's on to your computer and then on the player??
Also if you change out the amp and speakers in the car can you use the RCA connection or are you still stuck with the fm connection?

The unit comes with both RCA and FM modulator so it can be installed in any car setup. So if you upgrade to an aftermarket head unit and amp, you can switch over to RCA for cleaner sound.

It doesnt work like that....
You install a shell into a CDROM bay on your PC and the unit just slides in and out of it...just like in the car
Try to transfer 30 gigs of music via a USB port and you will have to shave your beard at least 3 times before you are done.

The kit comes with 2 bays...one for your computer and one for the car. the unit itself slides in and out of each bay.
The one for the computer is connected just like another hard drive. When the unit is in the bay, it works just like another HDD and you can transfer to and from it and even store data files on it!! The mp3 player will ignore the data files when in the car.
When you transfer all the songs, you pull it out and plug it into the bay in the car. The player will automatically search for all songs and build a library in just a few seconds.
The sounds on mine are transferred thru an FM modulator which is included in the kit so i just tune in the required station and all my music is playing (without commercials).
To answer the wiring questions...i removed the sunglass holder and fed the wire above the headliner and down the inside of the windshield pillar under the plastic cover that just pops off. No wires are showing...ANYWHERE.
The unit is wired to the accesory fuse on the side of the dash. I believe it is the 4th one down on the right. It turns on and off with the key just like the stock radio.
The remote control is pretty sensitive. I do not have to be right in front of the player but i do have to point it upwards. I can have my arm on the armrest or on the gearshift and press a button and it will recognize it from down there.

I just installed an EQ in my car. It has an a and b input, which means I can connect one to the radio, and one to mp3 player. Then from the eq it will go to the amps -> to speakers.

So does that mean with out an EQ (with just the stock radio and the after market amps) i have to hook that up to the fm band?? Is it a better sound from hooking it up with RCA's?

I'm not sure how this setup actually works, but I had a CD problem on my 94 Mustang GT (the only problem so far, other than a/c needing a recharge, through 94K). So I went the cheap route and got a 10 disc Sony cd changer that connects through the RF modulator.
It was a piece of shit. CD's sounded like tapes, plain and simple. It was so bad that I had to fork over more dough to buy a new head unit that controlled a cd changer. I bought a Pioneer head unit cd (mosfet 45x4) with a 12 disc changer in the trunk and a cd slave analyzer under my head unit... looks hella fat if you seen a Mustang and how they have that double-din setup.
Anyway, my experience with rf cd changers is that they SUCK A FAT ONE. My bro-in law has one on his 92 SC400 and he hates it, too. Not sure if this is similar, but I would expect them to sound even worse than the changers since mp3s are worse to begin with in comparison to cd's. Just my 2 cents.
