might be goin back to acura....

I had an 01 cls and then got a truck a year ago when my cls lease was up. i like my truck, but drivin around somethin that big all the time is a pain in the ass. i really like the new TL's...i would have looked into one when i was gettin my truck last year, but they werent due out for another few months. so im thinkin i might just bite the bullet. I had some problems with my CLS (tranny, rattles, etc..) and i didnt wanna be acura's guinea pig for the new tl... does the TL have any issues right now? how do you like the car? i havent really read to much about them. thanks for the help

You might want to go to the 3rd Generation section of the TL forum; http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/index.php

Basic rattles like the CL has. My in-laws have an 04 TL and it's a great car. The worst I've read so far are:

Flatspotting tires - Acura is shipping car with new brand tires
Headliner sagging - easy fix at the dealer
Bluetooth issues - it sounds more like it's the phone problem (too many flavors of Bluetooth out there)

For the price point, it can't be beat.

Try pricing out a BMW or Mercedes with the same options. Not even close Bud.

I say go for it.

im definately not going with a bmw, mercedes or lexus.... like neil said, with the same options, it gets very pricey. im thinking of 3 vehicles right now that im gonna test drive and work some numbers out on. a new tl, an fx35 or maybe a G35 coupe. thats probably not happening cause i cant have rwd. i know there is alot of variety there. they are, in my opinion, 3 of the hottest cars out there. i definately want navi, the problem with the fx is that you cant just get the navi. you have to get the whole technology package which is about 9 g's... im lookin to keep my range around 35 but no more then 40. i guess ill see tomorrow. me and my bro are gonna go to davis acura then hit up the infiniti dealer in willow grove. im kinda pullin for the fx... ill have to see what they offer.

The new TL is still ??? for me. I've read several posts @ acura-tl.com about drivetrain? vibrations between 55-75mph on the new model tl; the vibrations felt in the wheel and through the floor, sometimes pretty severe. Appears that around 20-30% of the cars have developed it and acura has not been able to diagnose/correct the problem. This is in addition to the other easily fixed vibration problem caused by flatspotting on the original tires. If not for this issue I'd have bought one already.

if you're considering the TL you'd be better off with the accord. better car, better quality, better value. you'll get slightly less power but the same or more features. all for a better price.

don't waste your money on the acura. it's just a low budget honda misrepresented as a luxury car. you'll actually get service & support from a honda dealer. you'll get none from the acura pricks.

well i understand your needs and budget. if FWD is the way you want to go and navi is an option you want then go with the TL.

only question now is do you want MT or AT??

I've decided to go with a 05TL/MT/Navi 48 month lease. I had one drove it a 1000miles when my CLS was in for service, and did not see any issues. Just waiting for my car to come to the dealer

i test drove the TL and damn was it nice. i liked the navi, and how everything was voice activated. nice power, nice interior... ive actually decided on keeping my truck for the winter and leasing somethin on the side. so the fx and the awd/fwd arent as necessary now. so now i can get a rwd drive car if the option comes up. im really considering a G35 coupe at this point. i dunno tho. i still have some numbers to work out. is infiniti touchscreen navi?? the new RL's are pretty fawkin pimp. sticker was around 52k.... damn sharp though. anything else out there in the 35-40k range that i might be missin? thanks fellas

My Dad bought an 04 TL (Auto no Nav) got it for like 31500 back in Feb...So far he has had the headliner replaced (due to falling) an A pillar replaced due to rattling, the 2nd gear oil jet installed per recall for 04 TL's tranny's, and all four tires replaced due to having the defective pair that was first being sold on the first batch of TL's. The bad tires was the main cause for the car vibrations around 55mph. Otherwise, i think the car is gorgeous and VERY WELL PRICED when you compare it to the competition.

Hopefully all of these things are fixed on the current 05 TL's. I know the Tire issue was addressed by the middle of this year on the 04's.
