Learning about previous DSM with a buddy of mine, hes currently running a management called megasquirt. Just curious if anyone thats running some heavy mods (i.e. Boost) have looked into it. I think it should work on any car.... Check it out.

I've heard it's very complicated. Much more so than even the e-manage which isn't always user friendly.

 

I thought that Megasquirt was mostly for old cars

Last I heard about it was on a 70's vw bus email list

I've never heard of the stuff till today.

 

Megasquirt is a pretty complicated system and in the applications I've seen it used in, it is used as a stand alone and not a piggy back management system such as E manage. Megasquirt is nice though in the fact that its completely customizable to suit your needs and the code is open source.

Back on topic. I have a few DSM'ers that run mega squirt, its pretty neat because there is a type of "base auto tune". Although it is a bit*h to install and get everything all wired up, everyone that I have talked to said it was worth it. There are so many thing that you can adjust. Neat thing about it is that you can tune while your driving.

 

You can do that with every other applicable device as well.

 

They use them a lot on AE86's. They are really good if you know how to tune them.

 

they are so popular because they are dirt cheap compared to almost any other engine managment system. alot of my friend run them on volvos.
