Everytime I look at this board I see.....Beat a Cobra......or Killed a Z28. SERIOUSLY...there is no way our beloved CL-S can even compare against these types of cars!!!!!!!!

Why is it crap? If the other person has a manual and isn't experienced enough to shift properly under the stress of racing, they'll lose. You have to be smooth and quick otherwise, forget it.
I'm pasting one of my VERY FIRST kills right after getting the GTX in '00. I had posted it here before, but I know switching the servers and stuff made it dissapear. So I copied it from my 5/00 post at the GP club.

Okay, I shouldn't really consider this a kill as the guy was about 60+ (no offense to the older crowd that may be here) and had his 'trophy' wife of early 30's at best next to him and couldn't shift worth a damn. Now to the car. It was a nice shiny red Ferrari 355. Gorgeous car! He tried to get in front of me to turn but I punched it just for the hell of it knowing full well I'd get the GTX tags pulled off my car when he flew by. Well.....
I BEAT him!
I turned my radio off so I could hear his engine, (damn what a nice sound!) So i heard when he really messed up a shift and I think he didn't really know how to shift at 'racing' style driving since he really jerked the car and just drove so poorly at acceleration. I know any good, heck even decent, driver with the 355 coulda and would've destroyed me but hey, at the track driver error still gets you the win right? So this count as a kill? I was laughing so hysterically after this since I could just see him trying to explain himself to his...ummm.... daughter... er probably wife. ""I swear honey, it's not for the money!"" I wasn't even trying honey, no way could a grocery getter beat a 130K+ car! Heheh, I still can't get over it. I just hope next time I don't get caught by someone who might actually know how to drive a car like that.

I never said I was looking to pick a fight.....I was just stating a fact. The stories of beating a Grand Prix or a BMW 325 are just a little more believeable than a "corvette kill".

Here is a perfect example of what I'm talking about........I was on the way to school today, and I tried to pass a WS6 TA......needless to say, all that I saw was tail lights, and they just kept on getting smaller. I don't see how anyone can claim a CL-S would beat a car like this.

I will say that you're giving the CLS a bit less credit than it deserves. No, it's no 911 TT but it will beat like 90% of the cars out there.
330i 5spd are quick and IMO with a descent driver will hand a CLS all around. My buddy has one and to about 40 or 50 he gives me shit...now this is based on experience and the fact that I have beaten every TLS/CLS raced off the line and moving...well moving not even close (I stopped counting after a while and stopped wasting gas on them
But I understand what you mean, I race Mustang Cobras and they are fast as hell period.
But you have to also account that some guys here may think the other Stang, Z28, BMW, or whatever was racing but in reality wasn't.

Either you doubt the guy or you don't.
He could just as easily get an old timeslip from someone else (I flipped through a bunch of old ones here at my desk and found several right in that range from when I was stock). He could also show a slip from a run where he was spraying.
(I'm not saying he didn't run these times or did just food for thought)

Sorry no time slip. G/F threw it in the garbage; I spent too much time & money on my car and not enough w her. Go figure...
I'm not together w her anymore and I still have my car.
A few people have driven in my car w me and Ernie Eclipse23 accually drove my car he can vouge somewhat how fast my car is.

He was nervous! On my way out I showed everyone what a torque converter can do.... Roasted the stock michelin's.

I'll trust him . . . a bit that is because one of his mods is a torque converter.
Compared to our stock slush-box I'd bet that 1/2 sec improvement for just that is possible.
Perfomance engine - but no tranny to get all that power to the ground. Oh well, it's not a real sports car after all. Just a nice car with some decent sportiness to it. :P
