I am in the market for a CLS 01-02. I know about the tranny failure, but am trying to decide if this is an inflated issue that effects only 5% of the cars or if its a major problem. Where would be the best to look for one of these cars? I am in the Philadelphia area and am ready to buy - anyone on the board selling? Also, anyone that had the tranny replaced and had no other future issues w. the 2nd one? If anyone is selling, please email me or post some comments!

get a manual, and won't have the same problem as the auto owners.

 

Tranny issue is not as dramatic and life threatening as many here make it. Of course if you are going to be doing 1/4 mile runs every weekend you may want the 6 speed. :P
