I picked up the calipers today. Here are some pics.

It looks like they are already coated with something. Did yours come with this coating? I dunno if i should sand them down and paint or just leave as is. They say duralast on the box.

I stated it before but I got them from autozone. They are the calipers for the 95 legend gs sedan. I paid 95 each plus tax. They are 52 each plus tax after core refund tho. I went in and ordered them yesterday and they were here today already.

yes, they are basically a direct replacement caliper, nothing else is different other than the caliper itself

I was telling my brother about this mod and I think he brought up a decent point. If you swap the direction of the legend calipers while putting them onto a CL do you put undo stress on the caliper? He seems to think they're directional and that they're weren't engineered to be put on in reverse so there is a potential for failure. I asked him if he ever broke a caliper while using his brakes in reverse.. Granted you would never do 100 in reverse and slam the brakes (in theory what you do to a legend caliper on a CL) I still think he's a ruhtard.

The reason, correct me if i'm wrong, is that the bleeder screw would be on the bottem. Which would cause a problem when bleeding because air = topside.

^ I might have to do this when doing my brakes in the spring. I bought all new rotors and pads but still haven't put them on.

Anyone have more insight on the bleeding screw? Progression, have you got any pricing on these from anywhere local??

yes that is why you need to reverse them, cause of the bleeder screw location. That's why I was asking about the brake lines if i can use the same SS lines you'd buy for the CL brakes. Which you can.

I'm gonna stockpile some goodies and when good weather comes, install them.

yea PARTSOURCE said 85 EACH and 40$ CORE EACH... so 125$ per caliper if you cannot scam them into taking your oem calipers back as the core(s)

So leave calipers as is in the pic or paint them. They look fine to me as is now as long as that coating holds up to rust.

From the picture, it does not appear that the 'Pad spring', which fits at the top of the caliper is installed. That's good, because if you install it there will be grinding as it tends to rest on the edge of the rotor. I mistakenly left the pad springs on when I did mine and got a horrible grinding when I drove off. I was like WTF! Otherwise, these calipers are a decent mod for the money for those who have high mileage cars with tired calipers.

So what.. if your calipers are in mint condition, there won't be a big difference if I go to the dual piston?

I have to paint my calipers. it's a MUST for me. either gloss red or vindveil blue, probably the blue though cause it's such a unique color. I wanna do something different. But I still haven't made up my mind.

I'm gonna get G2 caliper paint and throw the caliper in the oven and bake that shyt on, right after it's painted.

They are not needed, IF they were present, it is recommended they be removed inorder not to grind against the rotor edges.

Read the thread linked below, especially post #34. This is exactly what I mean!!

https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-cl-2001-2003-50/there-high-demand-legend-calipers-690614/

If that thread does not help you to determine whether these calipers are for you, then don't buy them.

Im kinda leaning towards the R1 concept slotted rotors for $200 for all 4. This will save me money to do an extra mod. Just hope it dsnt bite me in the ass from a cracked rotor etc. Anyone have anything against r1 concept slotted that wants to talk me out of it. other ones im looking at will all cost 300-400 for all 4.
http://www.ebcbrakes.com/automotive/...rs/index.shtml anyone have any experience with the ebc usr series rotor and how it is vs their sport series.

When I was doing research for my calipers I was worried about the mounting of them too. Mine mounted normal with the bleeder facing down. Had no problem with the lines or clearing the system.

Like I posted before. I am extremely happy with my R1's. Great response and even wear with no cracking or warping. I've done some serious highway stops and the Legend calipers combo'd with these rotors and their pads is amazing!

I dont like when ppl paint the stock cl calipers red. They arent necessarily pretty to look at and painting them red forces ur eyes to the caliper. Id recommend black myself. I was considering black or anthracite/silver for my silver car.

ok im leaning to just slotted dont want the drilled cracking issue. These would save me almost 300 over my other choices. Hard to pass up saving 300 for another mod. I usually like buying the best quality stuff tho.

right now mine are mat red..and the brake dust cakes into the paint on the fronts. So I'm gonna Paint over them with a glossy color.

Personally I think the brakes look good when they are painted (as long as you don't paint the brake pads). I took the pads out when doing my paint job so the pads are still crisp and I think it looks much better that way.

I actually did mine red first time i painted them. I hated the way it drew attention to them after I did! Thought it would be cool. got the rims and went black, never been happier! Its a personal choice too, but silver car with the black legends is

I keep hearing people say they are worried about this but no one has shown any proof of this. I mean i'm sure its possible but my drilled are in great shape! I have the drilled and slotted. Its personal preference really, i just liked the look of the combo drilled and slotted. GL with the conversion!

I just wanted to add a comment I heard on another site about running the legend calipers upside down. The issue they brought up is that the two pistons are slightly different sizes. They are made with the bottom one a little bigger, and the top a little smaller. They were only talking about a few mm difference in size, but said it could be a problem. I have not gotten a set yet to confirm if this is true and I am going to do this upgrade anyway, but wanted to put that information out there. If anyone has a set that is not on a car, check out the diameter of each piston and let us know if the article I read is true or BS. Thanks. By the way, my calipers are gloss red on a red car, with open wheels and look great! I get lot's of comments, but it is to each his own.

Yeah they are. But there is no need to mount them upside down. I guess for some reason some people think you have to do that to mount them properly. But they will mount as they are supposed to be without any worries of being upside down or not working properly.

Air rises to the top. The bleed screw should be on top.

^^and that is why we mount them left->right and right->left. I've had mine on for a few thousand miles and haven't had any problems. No squeeks, nothing, just solid stopping power.

So you just switch them (side to side) so the bleeder is on the top?

Think Im gonna go with the http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/6...0A3050726.aspx ebc ultimax rotors. I like how the slots are made to be ultra quiet and they are coated so they wont rust. 330 for all 4 isnt too bad. I found the goodridge lines on ebay for a good price http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
these ebc yellow pads are tempting but i wanna get the reds or hawk hps i think. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWAX:IT
