Knock in rear suspension

Ok my rear suspension has a knock coming from it, and I have taken it to the dealer, they are blaming my comptech sway...this happened just recently. I have no idea what is going on with the sway bar, but they say it is hitting the exhaust and that they cannot adjust it...I have to buy a new one, OEM and have them put it on to take care of the problem....that is compelete bullshit. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you take care of it? The sway was self installed, and I had 10k trouble free miles on it before this began happening.

The swaybar links may be loose. Try tightening them and relube sway mounts. I have knocking in front but haven't fixed it yet. Goodluck!

The bar is tight, the exhaust is moving around and the driver side flange is hitting the corner of the sway. The flange connects the driver side muffler to the pipe after the Y.

Sounds like the end link is loose. That's the piece that has the allen in the end of the bolt. Go under the car and tighten it up.

1) They are tight. To make sure a wrench was put on the nut, the bold was turned such that the allen wrench jammed up against the bar (as was done during installation) and the nut barely turned at all...like I said, they are tight.
2) After further inspection and pusing both the exhast and the bar as close to each other as possible, I could not get them to make any sort of contact. I saw the scratches that the guy mentioned, but I am not buying that, since there are about 4 scratches, and I hear the knock 4 times before the end of my driveway each and every morning.

It can't be the sways, they are tight as the day I put them on, and they have been on for at least 6000 miles, and this knock or pop started last week.

What else could it be, this is driving me INSANE and I need to get if fixed.

i have this same problem...i have stock sway bars but i do have HnR sport springs. This happens in the back passenger side. It makes a creak more so than a knock. I remember when i had my 98 prelude..there was a recall for something called "shock knock". If you have after market shocks..which i had at the time..it would not do this. But im taking my car in soon for this same thing..but if they have to fix it...i told them to wait till the eibach sway bars arrive to mess with it. If anyone knows anything about this.. im interested as well. It almost sounds like something is coming out of the socket..then slams back in..once the body isnt "twisting" anymore. It only happens to me when im pulling into or out of a driveway or parking lot..where the lot is higher that the street..and there is that small concrete ramp to get down the the street. if you know what im talking about...haha.

Check your shocks too...I had a knocking sound coming from my front end a while ago and when I pulled my shock out I found that I had bent the piston rod when I hit a pot hole.

It was a rear shock...no springs on the car, so luckily the warranty took effect...

Did they say what caused it? I noticed last winter that I've started to get a whoomp-whoomp sound (almost sounds like the tire bouncing in the hole) when I go over big bumps.

If it's something with the shocks, I'll take her in. I just thought I didn't hear it before......

Here is your answer after fucking 16 hours of searching for the mystery sound coming from the rear passenger side of my CLS 6speed.

Took OUT THE ENTIRE TRUNK..including rear seats (exposing shock towers), rear trunk lining, spare tire and everything in the trunk...

Also fixed up a few loose things while the entire trunk is uncovered...the DVD mount bracket was very loose...only way to tighted up the DVD mounting bracket was to remove the rear back seats to expose the two screw/bolts that held the unit up in the rear...after that, fucking FUEL LINE next to the BOSE amp in the rear passenger side was banging against the METAL OF THE BODY...causing some sounds...had to stuff a towel all the way inbetween the body panel and the amp...no more rattle there.

Drove the vehicle (friend did while I was in the rear)...listened and the fuckin' sound was still there...on the bottom...near the bottom of the rear passenger side...next to the BOSE amp. Looked hard for about many many grueling hours to find out it may be related to the SWAY BAR BUSHINGS. Remember, I took these out from the 01 and reinstalled the same sway bars and bushings on my 03 (lubed it well and installed/torqued properly).

I had doubts...but after adjusting the CLIPS on the sway bars and redriving, it made the sound even worse...some poppin', knocking sounds. Then I readjusted the clips to position them really close to the bushings so the bar can't move sideways and it didn't quite make a huge difference...but it quieted a bit....

I finally confirmed that it is the bushings..going to order a new set from Comptech on monday. This blows cause the sound can't be reproduced when you push down on the trunk...only when you drive the car..and turn a certain direction (turning left made the sound I believe). It was so hard to track down the sound..but it is confirmed to be the bushings. Guess they are worn? The end links aren't loose cause they will make a clunking sound WHEN YOU PRESS DOWN ON THE TRUNK...like simulating up and down on the car...it's not the shocks or springs either. Just push down on your trunk several times (with the trunk open of course..) if it makes a "clunking noise", your end links are loose..otherwise, it ain't the end links.

Hopefully this will help you out. It took 16 hours to find out it was teh sway bar bushings that were making the "knocking/something" sound...and it was fuckin' insane to pinpoint which bushing. Hopefully by end of this week my new bushings will come and I will reinstall and it will all go away.

Good luck!
