Just installed my ZEX Kit

I just installed my new ZEX kit on my 01, CL-S.
I love it! I am running a 55 shot for now but to run a larger shot you have to retard the ignition. I also switched the plugs and a new fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator are on their way.
The performance is nice. Right now I have an Injen CAI and HKS draggers I also removed the center muffler and replaced it with a test pipe. Me and a friend installed the kit and it went very smoothly. But the spark plugs were a huge pain in the a**! Their is no space to work behind the engine. Anyway let's talk about how it performs! Off the line with line with the bottle off, and punching it would result in a little chirp and a constant pull, but with the bottle on, off the line accel. is much better. Punching it from a stop lights the tires up all the way to red line but not franticly, it still pulls, and then once in v-tech for 2nd. and 3rd it go's through the gears much faster! (while hearing a loud hissing sound the whole time). On the highway it is not as noticeable, doing the 3rd gear hit at 80 mph, you can still feel the difference but not nearly as much. I'm thinking because with the 55 shot I only added about 35 more hp to the ground. But off the line you can really feel the added torque.

Most bang for the buck, NO2 is the bomb!

You said you installed a new FR, is it adjustable? might be worth while now to check your set up on a dyno-jet and do some real time adjustments.

Expensive little habit you got there. Good luck with it, and post some pics PLEASE!!!

I forgot if it was ZEX or maybe Nx that advertised that 1 shot = 1 WHP. Anyways...what is the largest dry shot you can put in without changing ANYTHING else?

Safe bet is the 25shot- very conservative. But still...........I would be careful with whatever, its all about mixtures and PPM. That's why I asked about that adj. FR.

Re: Just installed my ZEX Kit

Just need some headers now! (you don't have a sig, I assume you would have mentioned them if you had them) Imagine another 25 +/- 5hp at the wheels too

Keep us posted on your results from that stuff!

Depends on your factory fuel pump/injectors, no matter what your going to need a wet system if you want 100+ shot. (unless your crazy, or just ignorant)

I wouldn't push much past a 50 shot with a factory fuel pump. But some vehicles are capable of a 100 dry shot with EOM parts.

I think the N2O site will help fill any other question gaps you might have.

NX has a kit that claims 50HP at the wheels. I seen an install on it along with a dyno. It didn't hit the 50hp until a bottle warmer was added. I gained 30HP at the wheels without the warmer with the 55 shot. Most cases, the warmer adds another 10HP. I could only imagine the kick it gives a CL-S

Crazy no...but definitely ignorant when it comes to spraying. I am starting to humor my fantasy of the possibility...but at the same time dont want to replace anything that is OEM. From what I've read, 50 shot is usually the biggest you can go if you want to run all stock.

Yeah, welcome!

WiLd~CL~TYPS-@SS: I got my kit for $580 shipped, including pressure gauge and purge kit off of eBay. Bought the plugs for around $28.00, shipped! Got a bottle warmer for $75.00, shipped.

1st, its N2O not NO2

2nd, the zex kit comes with jets, for fuel and for nitrous, you pair up these jets with the sizes listed in the book to show you what shot you're running, this limits the flow of nitrous and adds the correct amount of fuel to the injectors.

you could run a 65 shot without retarding the timing...and maybe the 75 if you have good gas...say 94 octane...

the engine will easily hold a 75 shot, it is a V6...so the nitrous per cylinder is less when compared to other honda engines (4 cylinders that is)

the tranny is another story...that i'd beware of

i would also get the headers...its always a good idea to have a free flowing intake/exhaust system when using a larger shot of nitrous

also, don't put an adjustable FPR on the engine unless you have some good tuning equipment to monitor a/f ratio...and an autometer a/f guage does not count as GOOD tuning equipment

Does anyone else find it funny that they're selling copies of The Fast and the Furious on the website? I guess its fitting however considering how many people saw the movie, went out and hooked up a kit and totally fucked their car up.

Instead of an FPR I'd recommend a VAFC and dyno tune it so that you can have air/fuel properly set. If you're gonna run a higher shot you definitely want to be safe. I don't think I would recommend a 75 shot for this car because of the tranny issues. SFLA knows what I'm talking about. So do some of my other AV6 buddies.

Thanks

Do you need to change your plugs? On that NO2 site they said to change the plugs a heat range lower.

The only thing I changed was my spark plugs. Stock timing & stock fuel.

I'm running Zex plugs (2 heat ranges cooler than stock).

I have NOT retarded the timing since I'm running 93 octane (with octane boost at the track).

I will be installing a higher rate fuel pump and regulator within the next 2 weeks.

I suggest installing a tranny cooler to help combat the higher heat generated with running N2O.

so you guys are saying that i can run the larger shots without retarding the ignition.(65,75) To the zex owners is there a big difference between the 55 and the 65 shot! because my friend had a zex kit on his civic and the increase in shots were not consistant. meaning his 55 shot jets made approx. 35-40 hp @ the wheels and when he swithced to the 65 the hp #'s were about the same no real increase from 55 to 65, then when the 75 jets were installed it added almost 100hp to the wheels! so how consistant is it on our car's
And how much nitrous do you think our car's can take? and do our cars come with forged pistions?
thanks
