Just got an 03 CL-S :)
So I got bored with my 01 eclipse and decided to trade it in for one of these beauties. Got a black 03 CL type S with 45k miles on it. Any odd facts I should know about the CL?
THe auto trannies have a bigger than normal failure rate, many are replaced more than once. (Acura did extend the tranny warranty to 100k due to problems).
The 6 speed manual (available in 03 only) is a lot more fun and troublefree.

the infamous transmission problem. you may be lucky as the 2001 models are the main ones affected, but you never know..but the transmission is notoriously known for giving up randomly and going to crap. warranty covers the problem until 100k miles. i'm on my second one and still going strong. other than that, the car is solid. welcome to az!

certified used to add only 12mo/12k miles to the orig warranty, was the case on my certified Legend Coupe I had, and certifed does not cover all that the orig warranty does, (altho many dealers will tell you different). Call Acura's corporate 800 # for the truth.
800-to-acura?

Certified
1. Adds 12 months/ 10k to the bumper to bumper warranty
2. Extends drivetain warranty to 7yrs and 100k which includes the transmission
Depending on whether its an early 03 or late 03, the warranty might already be extended to 7yr 100k for the transmission without it being acura certified. I have a late 03, it is not extended cuz they claim those have a permanent fix with the oil-jet kit. All 01 and 02 have the transmission warranty extended i believe.
Anyways, certified is the way to go. If you still can, i would hastle the salesmen about the tranny problems and knock the price down.

IMHO. If you still have chance, try to get out of this one and get a 6MT. There are a few around.l Even though you are covered under the warranty, it still is a pain to get your tranny replaced. Unless you want an automatic to save yourself some work while driving then good luck with this one.
