Introducing my Tafetta White CL-S

Hey guys, this is my first thread on Acurazine, so its time for me to introduce myself.

Bought my TF 01 CL Type S about a year ago now. Its my first car and I have to say I've fallen in love with it.

So far I've put in an AVIC F700-BT, 18" MSW Type 16's, OEM spoiler, polarg m6's in the roadlamps, and Blacked and Cleared my headlights.

What I want to do now is lower on B&G most likely, get a lip of some sort, and fix my rear bumper (body shops). I might also powdercoat my wheels a different color and redo the calipers. The black and red is Killing me.

Here's a question for you guys. I'm 17, and my dad wont let me do any engine/ exhaust/ anything like that. Is there hope for me??? LOL

Here's some recent pics, I'll also post these in the TF thread.

Roadlamps are out because I'm wetsanding them.

Before I did the headlights.

welcome to acurazine!
looks like a good start on the car and a drop is a good next step. dont you just love those polarg bulbs in your road lamps?
what size are those tires? they look kinda thick.
a cheap and quiet performance mod would be a K&N drop-in filter and intake resonator removal. not much you can do under the hood other then that in your case. at least you can work on the suspension and get front strut, front sway and rear sway bars. also get tinted windows. maybe a BBK if you have the money.

Drop and rear bumper will be next, I have to work with what little money I have.

Love the polargs, just a simple cheap way to light up those raodlamps at night

well the K&N filter and intake removal will only cost you the filter which is about 40 bucks.
the suspension bars are about 100 each.

In addition to the front and rear sways is there a particular shock/spring kit you would recommend. I'm looking at B&G because its affordable, but I might need more than a 1.6" drop.

In the suspension sticky people just post " I have ________ and it works great. "

Yeah when it comes to suspension its all about personal preference. Depending on your wheel size, and amount of drop you want it can be a little daunting to try and decide. There are some great $$ saving group buys in the black market. Take a look and you'll be surprised what you can get.

If you have the money there are 2 sets of coilovers for sale in the BM right now. F1s for 575 and brand new Tein Basics for 750.

i think a spring and strut combo is cheaper but you wont be able to go as low or have the adjustable capabilities.

dave, you got those H-techs? how you like the drop and ride quality?

Yeah I did! put 'em in a week ago. They are amazing! drop was money and the ride is insanely better! feels like a new car!

Welcome to Acurazine!

Good start with making your CL your own and doing some mods yourself.

As every one else mentioned...drop would make a huge difference both in looks and handling.

Also...tell your dad...

"Look dad....I'm 17....I want to run with the big boys!"

Time to get some engine mods...!!!!!!!!!!

Dave, the car looks great with that drop.

I'll be sure to keep my eye on the black market.

And for the issue with my dad. The car is in his name untill he signs it off to me.....after I graduate from college.

secret mods would be crank pulley, headers and thermospacers. Not sure if you could hide the install and parts purchases from your dad though. I think suspension mods are real mods. I would just play it safe and do the suspension mods, save up for engine mods throughout college (if you have money left over from college), and then just go crazy the day after you graduate with headers, exhaust, intake, etc. besides you need at least 3k saved up just in case for the tranny and you cant afford the car to break down while your at school. I dont think you should be investing heavily in engine mods right now.

Yea I wish I had the money and permission to start on my engine now.

Today I deleted my intake resonator and connected a 3" pipe to my airbox so that it draws air from where the resonator used to sit. The pipe made it alot quieter, but should still give me an icebox effect as far as intake temp goes.

My dad is debating on whether or not he's going to let me get CAI, and if he doesn't I'm just going to get a k&n drop in and stick with the rerouted intake.

Civicdrvr, I recall seeing a few NPB CL's around town, I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.

maybe his dad doesnt want him to turn the CL into a ricer. or he's scared that his son is gonna supe up his car and go racing or speeding. Kids can do stupid things with a CL-S, I know I have before.

Thanks man. There is always some great deals in the group buy section of the BM. Good luck with the mods (what you can do right now).

Theres a few 01s and 02s Ive seen in black. Ive got an 03.

When I was 15 I bought my first car for $500; an 88 Civic hatch. I paid for it with my own money. I bought the engine swap. My mom couldnt say shit cause it was my money, and my car. The only thing she ever bought for my car was tires because I was broke when I moved down to VA and she didnt want me driving on bald tires.

I definately would recommend working on the suspension first.

^ i know what you mean

My 1st car was my 96 GSR, i paid for it myself, paid for all the mods myself, and my parents HATED it. But they couldn't say anything because it was my money.

Oh yea CIVICDRIVR, the only thing they paid for, coincidentally, was my tires when I first bought it.

Welcome to AZine! The car is looking good so far, as everyone has already stated, it needs a drop! That blows about your dad prohibiting engine mods when I got my S4 my dad not only helped me mod it, he drove it during track time too! lol I got to witness that the old man still had some tricks up his sleeve.

I say tint and drop in the future, then you should certainly be rollin nice for a while before you can graduate or convince pops that headers etc are good idea!

Haha, I'm constantly trying to convince him to give me free reign over modding the car. But for now I'll consider myself lucky that I can work on suspension.

Hopefully by the time summer is over I'll be posting pics of how the lowering came out.

Thanks for all the comments guys, I'll sort of make this my beginning build thread and update the first post with what I've done.

Yea, its like they have no control over how fast you go, but they at least want you to have traction

If you need help with anything, let me know.

Also, use this excuse for justifying headers:

"Since times are rough and gas prices keep going up, I think it would be financially responsible for me if I were to install a new exhaust manifold, as that will give me 2mpgs over my current configuration. That equals to a $x.xx savings per tank."

Hell, make some pie charts if you really need to sell it

Also get your windows tinted, you gotta keep the leather away from UV rays.

1.6" is a nice drop, not slammage low but enough to give it an aggressive stance. Those shocks are great too. What kinda RSB are you getting? The progress one is the best to get.
