interesting note on CT axlebacks

so my buddy gets rear ended in his 99 accord v6. hes got comptech axle back mufflers. when he gets the insurance to cover the damage they replace the mufflers even tho they have no damage. free set!

we get to talking and wondering if they will fit my 03 CL-s. they are so close to being the same as the ones for the CL that the part number is XXX1 vs XXX2. lol.

so for anyone wondering: no they do not fit. they are shorter than the CL muffs and the hanger arms dont reach. HOWEVER. i took them to my friendly neighborhood all around mechanic and for 60 buck he refabed the arms. the left one fits perfectly with a longer arm. the right one is angled to the left and we had to heat the turn in the pipe and re-bend it to fit.

so after all the work. ding! they fit and work great. i know its really just a sound change and someday i will have the headers to compliment the setup, but just if you were wondering.

CLIFFNOTES: CT axleback mufflers do not fit a CL type S without an hours worth of fabricating. (welding and tube bending)

sure might be a bit hard to see without it being up on the lift... but for sure you can see the hangers

Glad you got them to work out for you.

This is nothing that hasn't been discussed multiple times before though...

its not positioned correctly, too far in on both sides... the exhaust opening is not big enough for me :shrugs: but comptech's have a nice tone which isn't as loud as the competition.
