Intake header but no exhaust?

I want my car to scream but only from under the hood. I had that ricey sound I like deep sound but not to much of it. What I'm getting at is this will it be pointless if I get and intake and headers and no exhaust. I want to beef the HP and the Torque but I don't want any noise from my muffler. If that's dumb any suggestions on how to up the HP and torque. 03 cls spd

you will get most all of the gains from the intake and headers with the stock exhaust. the exhaust on a cl-s is already pretty free flowing.

If you aren't going to pop on a supercharger or turbo, the stock exhaust will work fine. In fact, you will probably only gain or lose a HP or two with a modified exhaust.

The headers only change the tone (timber) of the exhaust note (pulse timing is changed).

The intake will give you a pretty large roar at WOT (Well, the AEM CAI is pretty load at full throttle and 6K RPM).

That’s what I did.
Headers & Intake are a popular combination.
I don’t feel the $$$$ for Comptech mufflers are worth it because they do nothing for performance and actually ADD sounds that most people don’t like. (Droning)
And I don’t care for the “Coffee can” look of the other mufflers that some people have mounted on their CL’s.

I ran with just headers & intake for a while. The CT mufflers just add noise. It's a good noise though. Mine have gotten deeper in tone the last few months for some reason. Take it from someone who hates noise. The mufflers are no where near the noise beasts I have heard on other cars. (You ever drive a Mustang GT?) The droning is no where near as loud as some make it out to be. You can get the quiet tip inserts to kill most of the sound if you wanted & just have the looks.

I think those big muffler look PATHETIC on our cars. Acura's stock mufflers look perfect on it. I'm also getting a header and intake. I really like a quiter ride and want it to get loud ONLY when the car is going fast. Should I go with AEM or the IceBox for a quieter ride?

Icebox if you want quiet. The AEM will make all sorts of noises like hissing, farting, & the howl when you go into the upper RPM band. The icebox gets equal or better performance without the noises.

Since cl-s gain next to nothing in hp with new exhaust, what are the gains when installed on a cl-p? Could i just install stock cl-s exhaust for same gains and less money?

Since I have the S/C, I got the full catback exhaust (b-pipe + axleback). The axleback exhaust do make a few WHP on their own and sound nice.

Keyword: S/C. And, a turbo would also benefit from a fat exhaust pipe….

You have enough gas flow heading along and the forced induction is going to change the exhaust/intake gas scavenging inside the cylinder head too....

YMMV

I believe the icebox is quieter, and gives a few more WHP.

ya but the AEM growl and then scream more than makes up for that 1-3 hp the comptech makes over the AEM.

that's subjective...all to the driver's ear

personally I dont' like to hear my intake a majority of the time...I like to cruise hearing nothing. Plus, I think the sound the AEM makes is a little over the top It does sound nice though (sorry if this confuses you)

you'll see pretty decent gains with just the intake, and even better gains with headers. the exhaust addition only adds about 2-3 hp so it's not necessary.

you can always get different muffler tips. for looks, that is.
aem intake, obx headers and you'll feel the difference. if you got money for comptech, go that way. exhaust is not worth it tho until supercharger/turbo.
