which intake to buy?

Been seeing all these new air intakes come out for the CL-S but am curious as to which is the best. There's the Xephyr we've heard so much about for $200 (colored i.e. red, blue) shipped, the Injen at snook's for $235 plus shipping (+$20 for color) , Weapon R (eautoworks.com) for $162 (colored or polished) plus shipping, not to mention the AEM one that will one day come out for around $249 at snook's (colored). The Xephyr seems like a good deal but is a new company whereas Injen, Weapon R and AEM have been around for a while and have decent reputations. What are the differences between them? Power increases? Quality? Any input whould be greatly appreciated.

I believe the Weapon R is a short ram intake, correct? Injen is more expensive. AEM? Ha!! "Just give us 3 more months!!" All I can say is that the Xephyr CAI is a very well put together product for a very excellent price.

I have the Weapon-R. It hums very loudly, but if you can live with the noise...i think it is the best short ram out there...the design of the new dragon filter makes a funnel-effect that increases the volume of air entering the intake pipe and throttle body. Plus it looks really nice....

Yeah, I guess it's unfair to compare short rams to CAI units. And yup, I did forget to mention that the Xephyr intake included the by-pass valve which could come in handy in my neck of the woods. I guess I'm just anal and prefer a "name brand" but if AEM can't get their act together, Xephyr's will be one I get.

This may be a stupid question but can there really be that big a performance, quality, sound difference between the Xephyr, Injen and AEM units? As long as they fit properly and doesn't fall apart, we're good right?

Cmark,

All well designed CAI systems will offer relatively similar results. A few details do however affect performance: Filter Element, Induction Tubing Diameter, and Resonance Tuning. I am sure that my competitors all produce very good products, but my systems offer a few advantages. Price, Performance, Bypass Valve. I have the utmost respect for my competitors, nonetheless Xephyr Performance is determined to become a competitor to be reckoned with in all aspects of Performance, Price, Resonance, Asthetics, and Features

Best luck in any decision you make!

I like the design of the up coming CompTech Icebox and you'll be able to clean the filter without busting your ass. I heard it should be out at the end of this month. Check it out.

Had an Injen on my TL, and put an AEM on my CL. I cannot tell the difference as far as power/sound/feel, but the AEM fit slightly better, and the rubber mount seems to be better (the mount broke on my Injen...

I would let price decide...
