Info on AEM Big Brake Kit
I'm considering doing the AEM Big Brake Kit. Any advice from those who have done it, or those who are considering doing it. Is it worth the $$, how about improvements, also any negatives. Thanks in advance for the help.

I drive a first gen but you can check out aempower.com I believe. They should have them and I know they can cost anywhere between $450-$1200 depending on whether your getting just the big brakes for the front or if your doing the front and doing the rear conversion. A lot of sites all give a good 10% markup so Id look around for a good long time first. Theres also Brembo and Baer but they are a little pricey respectively to the AEM kit, but Im sure their a little better, but he anythings better than stock right.

Cost Drivers!!!!
you should check out the new C&D mag......they said that braking distance will be greatly improved by better rubber and better brake pads. Larger rotors will not help according to their tests. If you are going with the brembos for the loss in weight then ok but don't do it think you need them for better breaking. Buy some toyos and new brake pads and you'll see a HUGE improvement.

The front AEM brake kit from an Accord V6 will fit a CL with minor modifications. I think there's some issues with the back, but it can be done. If you're looking to improve braking, I wouldn't waste your money. If you just want something that looks better, go for it! I posted a link on here a while ago about a guy with a TL that did the swap. I'm sure it'll come up if you do a search.

Here's a set on a TL (with 20s )
Here's a link to an old post that discusses what needs to be done to make them fit:

Well just to update, i went to Streetsyde yesterday and the AEM kit was for an Accord V6 and although it was on and looked good it just wasn't gonna work. So i'm back to other possibilities.

It would please me to no end if you could meet up with us either Wednesday, August 28th after work for Vince's farewell dinner, or the following Saturday (31st) for a meet.
We need to see you and your car!!!!

Why wasn't it going to work? What problems did you run into?

you might want to do more research on the "quality" of AEM rotors before you drop down money for them. i've yet to hear/read anyone with the AEM bbk say great things about them. (me included)
for me, i'm in the process of getting brembo's. but just like with the AEM's, i won't comment on their quality or performance until i've had some time/mileage on them and see how they hold up. but for the $$$$, i'm hoping i'm getting more than just the "bling" factor.
bigger rotors (like someone else said before) in theory, will not decrease your stopping distance. where the rubber meets the road is what determines that. with that said, however, high-speed braking (for those who like to fly above 80mph) does do a number on your rotors/pads. what bbk's are suppose to do is to keep the rotors cool and the x-drill or slots help provide venting and bite on the pads especially when the rotors get really hot.

Note: it is true that the ABS and tires are very important to breaking (along with road surface), have a look at the braking distances as the speed increases. (I have the issue)
IMO, the Bremos and other kits are best suited for fade reduction and heavy mountain driving when someone is going to be making 10+ stops running down a steep hill (or mixed terrain) at speed.
A CLS + road track is a non-starter with the stock brakes...
RE: your comment about the tires and braking: I’m quite sure that the Toyos saved my ass when a SUV ran a red light last week (right in front of where I would have been). Another foot of braking distance and I would have been very unhappy…
