If you need body work in Austin.... Jeff's Auto Body
I just got my car back from Jeff's Auto Body on North Lamar.
Somone had backed into the passenger door and smashed it pretty good.
The repair work was FIRST CLASS. I absolutely cannot tell the car has been repaired. The paint is as smooth as the stock paint... not a speck of dust or brush mark to be found. And I'm one picky bastard.
I highly recommend them if you have the unforunate luck to need them.

mcdanjw, if you don't mind me asking, what does something like that cost. I've got a banged up passenger door, and was quoted $700+ for a repaint of the door (remove trim, so no masking edge, blend into fender, etc, etc).

That seems about right... Jeff's Auto Body isn't know for being the lowest cost repair shop, but they would likely charge about $1200 to fix that dent.
Mine was similar to that, but a little bigger and deeper and ended up requiring them to replace the entire door because it bent the crossmember in the door needed for rigidity in a crash. That brought the total to $2000. On yours, they could just reskin the door, paint it, blend it both towards the front and rear, and then reclear coat the entire passenger side.
The first quote I got was just skinning the door like you need and it was right at $1200. It wasn't until the cut into the door that they determined it needed to be replaced completely.
Have you tried going to a paintless dent repair shop and see if they can fix it? It doesn't look too bad in the photo...

Nope, paintless dent removal won't work, 'cause I need paint If it wasn't for the paint being messed up, I think that a dent doctor could handle it.
It's dented and scratched. You can't really tell in the photo but there are 5 distinct dents there. A couple go down to primer/metal. They're gonna probably do the same thing as a dent doctor would do, then lay on the paint. They aren't planning to reskin the door, 'cause the dents aren't that bad.
It's nice to know that I'm in the ball park price wise for the repair. That's what's great about this forum. The place I got the estimate was Inskip autobody. I bought my acura from Inskip Acura, wonder why the dealership recomemded that shop
Oh, and while it's there I need to get a seperate estimate for my rear bumper (but that's another story)
Thanks for the info.
