icebox dyi

I searched and the links provided are no longer active. I didn't see anything in the Q&A either.

Any help will be appreciated. My local garage tried to charge me $150 for this and said that he needed to weld, and trim certain peices. I know that can't be true unless the previous owner did something weird to my car.

Also i never done this install but by the looks of the instructions, i would assume you dont need to take the bumper off.
Just go in through the wheel well.

You dont even have to take the bumper off to do the install, I know I didnt take mine off. Also if any mechanic wants to start welding for an intake install I would run!!!

Thanks for your response but I was looking for some docs written by a fellow owner. They seem to be a bit more detailed than the comptech instructions.

DO NOT take the bumper off. Remove the wheel & wheelwell liner, you can get to the resonator very easily. The rest is pretty easy, just go slow & envision how the various parts go together. There used to be a very nice guide @ http://www.abunchofcars.com/diy_page.../tl_icebox.htm , but it seems to be down now.

it only takes like 5 minutes to take the bumper off anyway

but its real easy to install. no welding at all. I did it in less than an hour on my six speed. I posted tips years ago

You don't need to take the bumper off at all. Just jack it up a bit, and remove the shroud below the bumper. Much easier.

Good luck.

Yeah but why risk scratching the bumper if its just as easy to remove the wheel/liner?
