I was just digging around and I can't find my vice grip So it's nice that I can use existing hardware.
Do you guys think it would be easier to do the IM or TB first? What's the torque specs for the plenum cover nuts? I don't think the directions mention it.
Thanks.

twist the throttle to WOT position (so you have slack in the cable) then you should be able to see the hole that the metal rod on the end will fit through. and there is a small gap that the cable slides through.
i didn't have a torque wrench so i had to do everything by feel. i just paid attention to how tight everything was when i took it apart.

I just got my kit today. I was surprised at how fast it showed up. Normally it takes a good 2 weeks to get anything from the states. Anyways I dont have time this week to get the install done since I still have midterms so I wont be able to get anything done until next week. which really sucks cuase I really wanted to get these on and try them out!

I changed my mind and got my TB spacers installed this afternoon. It took about 2.5 hours to get done. A little longer then it probably should have but we stopped a couple times for a smoke and were chatting the away. Anyways its all done and I must say this is a great mod. The intake manifold is ALOT cooler and there is a definate increase in performance. For anyone who is thinking of whether or not to get this mod.. I highly recomend that you get it on asap. It definately livens up the car!

Burning Brakes
Got mine yesterday and will probably install this weekend. Also ordered a set of Denso Iridium IK20 plugs to install. Have about 40k on the orginal plugs.
Looks like a pretty straigh forward install. I have taken off the TB before to have bored out so shouldn't be much harder to take off the intake manifold.

Installed the thermoblock spacers last night and trimmed the engine cover to fit.
Total install time was approx. 2 1/2 hours with a couple of breaks.
The gasket remover was a life saver. It would have been a pain to try to remove the T/B gasket without it. Since we still have cold weather here in Chicago, I did not install the T/B coolant by-pass.
Pretty easy install, just takes time to remove all the connections and hoses and clean up all the parts with T/B cleaner.

Will be ordering mine soon too. Hows it feel dj5. Still like to see what johntypes comes up with the dynos at garage kwai. The weather here does suck I don't mind the cold(either does the car) I just hate this snow and salt crap. I thought it would be over by now.

$10 is big to me right now . . . remember some of us are poor folks . . . especially when you're married to a big spender and are single income with 2 kids.
That said, I wouldn't let $10 stop me at this point . . I've not done any mods since the Scalbert cooling mod last spring . . . so I'm due something since RES didn't pan out.

^^ You asked for that one!
Anyways... you can use a vice-grip... I don't like the two-nuts way because you can't get a wrench around the inner one when there is another one tightened next to it!

Also, if using a vice-grip, make sure you cover your intake ports . . . don't want and shaving to fall in there . . .

Maybe this thing works almost as good as RES!
I'm in, but need to wait a few weeks on cash . . . so if the GB isn't moving by then I'm going to piss $15 away!

Just a note to everyone who has installed or is planning on installing the spacers. Be sure to check your coolant and oil levels once a week to ensure that they are at their adequate levels. I noticed today that my coolant was low and after I did some more research I found that it is common to use up some of the coolant and the oil may start to burn a little. I didnt notice any change in the oil level. I am currently running amsoil 5w20 so I wasnt expecting much of a change but I will keep a close eye on it. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on this mod!
