I think my brake pad fell off!! Best bang for the buck rotors and pads please!!
Like a week ago my front driver side brake was squeeking a little and now it sounds like metal on metal really nasty noise. I had my brakes cheked a month ago and tech said 25% pad left. My cross drilled roter is eaten up u cant even tell that it was cross dilled.
Anyone have any suggestions on Rotors and brake pads. something decent for the money. Not the cheapest not the most expensive combo, basiclly best bang for the buck!!
Thanks guys!!

Well now instead of you only having to replace $40 brake pads. You are going to have to replace $100-$200 rotors and thats if you do the work yourself.
The brake pad has small rivets that start grinding into the rotor and pretty much destroy them after you get to this point.
Pretty stupid and unsafe if you ask me.
Just got with ebay rotors and some duralast ceramic pads from autozone. Decent setup for a decent price.

I'm guessing he's hitting the wear indicator tab and is not all the way down the rivets yet. That tab makes a god awful racket, even more so with slotted or drilled rotors.
I've had good experiences with PowerSlot and they aren't terribly expensive. The cryo treated ones are a good bit more durable but you pay for it. If you aren't terribly concerned about the finer points of brake performance, any old pads will get the car stopped.

i asked this guy at my work today if it's possible for a brake pad to fall off and he said yes.(i didn't think it was possible either) He said new brake pads are not useing rivets anymore, the pads are being adhered with some sort of resin. Take that for what it's worth.

I got R1 concepts x-drilled and slotted rotores shipped for $160 a year ago of ebay. Then another $80 in ceramic pads from autozone and thats it. Worked great ever since.
Oh and the pads dont dust that much. I can go a month or 2 without washing my rims and they dont look dirty at all.

Changed my pads and rotors today, used oem rotores and Akebono ceramic pads cost me 152.00 for parts and had a tech at my work put it on for a case of hineken beers.. my pads were all there but outside pad on driver side was shot and inside pad had 30% life left passenger side had about 25% life on both side.
I asked him if the caliper was frozen but he said no and lubed it up nicely said it sould wear eavenly now!

I put TL front rotors on my CL and they went a lot longer before warping and I am hard on the brakes. I perfer to stay with OEM, ie. the TL rotor is good with the factory pad!!

Autozone rotors and pads??? I prefer to stay away from them. Why? Because I used to work at this store for 2 years and the customers that bought these regular rotors (not the cheap stuff that they call it valuecraft - > you may call it valuecrap because it's totally POC), about half of them returned the rotors because of defective parts. They got mad at Autozone employees who knew nothing at all because of the rotating work shifts. Even the store manager where I worked at and some of the store managers that I knew had no clue about the quality of these rotors.
For the brake pads, I don't even trust Duralast gold brand name (it's store brand name). For the Morse (brand name) ceramic pads and blue box (forgot the name) high performance pads, they are ok but unfortunately sometimes Autozone jacked up the price madly because of popularity.
FYI, equip yourselves with enough information/knowledge first before you get into Autozone stores because not all of the people that work there know anything about cars or bikes. Only a few of them know and that knowledge comes from their own experiences and their own logic/good common sense. And Autozone never gives the training or care about letting their store / corporate employees knowledges about correct details of cars or bikes. I don't mean to say bad words about this company, just to inform you on this web.
