Trunk lift help

Hello guys.

I'm trying to find out if anyone has seen or done this. I added a wing to my 2003 CLS and the torsion bars now won't hold the trunk open. I found out later that there is a stronger set of torsion bars, but they only come with a wing kit, which mine did not. I also added upgraded speakers that I found out later, rub against the torsion bars. SO, I want to add struts in place of the torsion bars. I saw once someone who had done it, well in an Accord, but can't find it again.

Has anyone either done this change, or could get me to someone that has before?? Thanks!!!

Thanks for the help. That sight only shows struts for the hood, not the trunk. I did ask them what I am looking for and am waiting for a response.

u might have to improvise on this one.
just know the length and specs and get one of similar dimensions.

I guess this is what u want. (http://www.burtmanindustries.com/q45...auto_trunk.mpg)

Not a bad mod, might consider doing it myself.

BTW...what kind of wing to you add to your CL? The OEM spoiler is heavy enough so the trunk only pops open about an inch and half, maybe two.

My trunk bars are kinda messed up too. If its not too expensive, I would like to "upgrade" to struts as well.

there is a thread in the tsx side regarding struts on the OEM hinges. personally i never saw the benefit in that as the hinges are still in the way (but it can assist in opening the trunk).

if you do a search here, there is the P/N for the 'heavy-duty' torsion bars (both of them).

I agree that the high tension springs only fix part of the problem. I want to go to struts so I don't have to worry about the springs being in the way of my speakers and don't have to worry about the trunk closing on me. I added an aftermarket spoiler with an OEM look. It is a little lighter than the OEM. I'm looking on here to see if anyone has CHANGED from springs to struts, and if so how they did it!! Anyone???
