How is you leather wearing??

It seems like my leather is getting some pretty deep creases in it. I didn't expect them so soon (10 months, 16K mi). Here's some pics. What does everyone else's seats look like??

Driver's seat. I only weigh 158 lbs so its not like I'm excessively stressful on a seat

By comparison... the seldom used passenger seat.

My driver side leather has this performation in it where my wallet is. This really sucks, I have been increasingly noticing such wear especially on the drivers seat. My car has 9000 miles on it.

I'd say it's about average for soft leather. Mine looks about the same as yours. No more hair from the front seats, the backs are a real eyesore though.

And PS, I have 16,500 miles on mine in 10 months.

I don't think it's your weight but how you sit in the seat. Try changing your position weekly or monthly to avoid stressing out one particular location I guess.

I've had my CL-S for 8 months now. Creases all over and I've got the "butt-bubble"...hmmm that's a good idea to change your weight distribution every once in a while. I'll give that a try, kensteele...thanx.

Yea, my seats arent any better then goldys.

I weigh about the same as him (155-160)

But... what r ya gonna do?

Our leather is not top shelf... its not like a Coach Edition Lexus ES.

And its certainly not BMW quality leather.

I think were on par with Mercedes though... so our leather isnt bad.

Be glad you don't have a parchment colored TL! When the parchment gets creases (which happens easy in TL cuz the leather is purposely loose) they turn shiny dark tan. YUCK. Also... the TL seats are 80% vinyl 20% leather... so the leather inserts turn color from the vinyl real easy.

At least on the CL the vinyl is in non-visible spaces.

Yep. My dad's '99 TL has this problem.

As for my seats, I have significant wear on the driver's seat and I weight 178 pounds. I suspect most of it comes from getting in and out of the car. I had this same problem with my '98 Sebring.

Any place on your seats that aren't considered "seating area" is vinyl. Also, if you are getting the "hair" thread through the perforation, make your dealer change it, I'm getting new seat covers this week ...

I had the same wear trouble.

I weigh 186lb. Car is 11200 miles old. I do use leather cleaner and a conditioner lotion. I have the annoying "butt bubble". Really PITA. All those "scares" are very noticable on the side supports.

But what we can do, it is just a car to be driven

So, basically the perforated parts and the immediate surrounding areas are leather? How about the rear center console with the cupholder? The top of the rear headrests(if you could call them that)?

My leather has the same wrinkles and it is 4 months old. I've conditioned it a few times and I think it is just due to the soft leather. Not worried about it...

You've got to be kidding me. I'm 240 and my seats are fine. True, I condition them every time I detail the car, and I've got 16K in 5 mos. (okay, three of those were on it when I got it). It's got to be something else. Do you just plop into the seats? Okay, if you're having sex in the front seat (well congratulations, u da man) but I'm sure THAT could be some of the problem!

dee

BTW, if you move to the back seat, you could solve the hairy seat problem....literally!

Leather wrinkles as it wears. No matter how expensive the leather. This is normal. IMO you should condition your seats at least monthly. During the summer down here is H-Town, I do it about every other week. Texas heat dries out everything. Interior temps can get as high as 150+ in a closed car.

Leather seats are nice, but they require constant care if you want to keep them nice.

This is why I am concerned. I don't expect these seats to look perfect 10 years from now, but I didn't expect creases like this so soon. Living in Tucson, I condition my leather about every other week as well during the 5% humidity 110 degree summers. And still this is the result. Oh well.

As opposed to the entire seat/chair ... yes, the cover, meaning they are calling in an auto upholstery company to come in and do it.

Satin Slayer, unless your body touches it, it AINT leather.

Yeah I hear that, I have problems to, mine 2 month old but had 7500k on it. The leather in one spot on the drivers seat looks like it is stretching. Going to take back to dealer and say fix this.

I have never been a fan of leather seats. I have had much better luck with cloth seats holding up better than leather. I had cloth in my 97 cl. I had the car 3 1/2 years and the seats looked like new when I sold it. I would have opted for cloth in my CLS, but obviously cloth is not an option. I don't care what kind of car you have, leather shows wear and age, no matter what you do.

I am 6'1 and 190 lbs. In an attempt to avoid breaking down the outside thigh support in my drivers seat, I push down on the bottom of my door jam with my left hand, and lift myself over the edge of my seat when getting out of my car. If I don't raise up over the edge of my seat, it will be ruined within 6 months.

I'm ~250lbs. My seats look great at 10500. I do clean and condition them about every 30 days. I'm getting tint this weekend, I hope that helps as well. By the way, is premium tint worth the extra cost? Does it last longer and resist turning purple? Or is the guy yanking my chain. Thanks
