I got a dashboard light warning and was able to get the code 13-2 "internal failure of drivers side impact sensor". Acura dealer says pt.#77970S3MA81

Now I have to find one (cheap, not $175 + shpg quoted by the dealer)

I want to pull the current one to before shopping for a replacement but I don't know where it lives?

Looks like one on each side as shown below.

The link below also shows it as 'discontinued' through that OEM parts website; however, it appears you can pick one up on ebay for cheap.

Here are the removal instructions. Make sure to disconnect the battery as it states.

Yikes - "REMOVE THE SEAT ASSEMBLY" - Much more work than I'd hoped for....

I wonder what would happen if I took it out for a few weeks - to make sure I'm ordering the right one - while waiting for a replacement - just the same SRS dashboard warning light?

Has anyone experienced a failed side airbag sensor (77970-S3M-A81) —thats discontinued and not available at any dealers or auto supply, nor the half dozen salvage yards I've contacted so far— and found a way to workaround? Or can offer availability suggestions? I can live without the airbags in a "classic" car, but the dashboard warning light is distressing...

Since 77970-S3M-A81 is discontinued, search car-part.com for a complete driver side seat, closest to your location, and have it shipped to harvest if they won't send it (sensor) separate?
