How much can the 03 clutch take?

Someone I thought was my friend stole (he may use the term borrowed, or implied permission) my car for a 2 hour joyride, 60 miles later, when i finally woke up from my drunken slumber at a friend's place (he picked me up, as I was too messed up to walk) - the clutch was hot and stinky and I was floored, oh but he didn't do it, someone found my keys, rummaged (sp) through all of my shit, but didn't steal 1.) my watch 2.) a pair of walky talkies 3.) my laptop 4.) my CDs. He's full of shit, and I don't care to ever see him again, I just don't want my clutch to fail on me. I drove it yesterday and today lightly, and I can still smell burnt clutch. Any info would be greatly appreciated...

I'd be an ass and call the cops. Then once I got the police report stating he beat the shit out of my car, I'd beat the shit out of him.

Burnt smelling clutch = Bad news. Not like you needed me to tell you that.

I'd certainly not talk to that fuck ever again.

And to follow up. I seem to recall another member whom had the sulfuric smelling clutch and it had to be replaced.

what an asshole. not to make you feel worse, but Acura's are not known for having the most durable clutches.

of course the cl 6 speed is new so it could be a different story.

i would make the guy buy me a new clutch right now, or steal his TV or something. clutches aint cheap.

He's broke, filing a police report sounds like the best idea thus far, I'll scare him into paying for the clutch, I'll tell him my insurance carrier demands a police report to pay for the damage to the car, let me add, their are also SCRATCHES on the passenger side bumper, pretty big ones, you can see the white underneath the paint.

all the abuse u can dish at it till it fails........sorry, the temptation was just too great.

I don't know, but as other menber pointed out, honda trannys are not know for their endurance. cross ur fingers and hope for the best.
On a side note, inoticed that i can smell my clutch burning during normal downshifts. I think i'm gonna take my car in to be looked at.

Don't know, but drive it VERY easy for the next 500 miles. That will help any damage it may have had.

I think fuzzy is right. I believe that it is possible to resurrect a slightly glazed clutch plate by driving easily for a few hundred miles and . Not probable though.

If the clutch becomes slip city, then take it in for a new one. It is a replaceable part.

I feel your pain. Sounds like a story for a anti-drunk commercial.

It sounds to me like 50% of the life of the clutch was probably burned off.
Didn’t somebody else here do that and it cost like 800+ to fix.

Either way your “friend” owes you a couple of hundred bucks for repairs that are gonna be needed sooner then they should have been.
