Hit 10psi of boost yesterday!?!

Umm... this was a mistake, but I found out how the car feels at 10psi I put on the new boost regulator and the damn thing doesn't work, keeps pushing 10psi no matter what I set it to. I am quite fed up and going to just change my WG spring now.

Luckily I have the E-manage programmed to stuff a ton of fuel through the extra injector upto about 12psi, so fuel wasn't an issue. However, I was skeptical as to how the motor would handle it and it seemed fine (although the 2nd time I gunned it, it detected a misfire).

Anyways, it ripped the tired loose in 3rd gear!! Pretty intense feeling... too bad I won't be feeling it again

Congrats.... in a way I guess, would be nice to hold the boost safely. Are you sure it was a mistake or were you just playing around Ram? j/p

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought I'd see a 500HP dyno when I opened it up

Glad your motor's OK. Breaking loose in 3rd is pretty slick.

are you planning on making it able to constantly run that psi?

No way... the plan is to run 8psi, the 10psi was a boo-boo. I saw it hit 10psi and I immediateley let off the gas!

watch the detonation, ive seen sooo many detonation pits on pistons, detonation is EVIL, heheh, we had a bad fuel pump from walboro once and we were detonating on forged pistons, loss of power but engine still ran, open it up, the rings held the piston together, as soon as we pulled it out of the cylinder the landing rings kinda crumpled

I am retarding 4 degrees at 6.5psi itself... retard at 8-10psi is about 5-6 degrees! It's not detonating

im sure your fine and you know what your doing, its just funny how turbos can bite ya, especially with that overboost thing, on my previous car one single vacuum line on the turbo held it from about 6 psi to going to 1bar

hey...haven't been here in a while and not sure on what your new kit has. Are you running water injection? If not, planning to?

No... its running the GT35R and the E-manage - makes much more power than the old kit at the same boost level: 419whp vs. 347whp (~6.2psi).

Damn! This should've happened on my street so I could hear some sick CL sounds through my window.

Oh well, glad your car wasn't hurt, Ram. Is 8 psi the highest stable boost, then?

I know what you mean. A vacuum line came off of the wastegate control solenoid in my Typhoon one time. Without knowing, I got on it and it spiked to over 20 PSI. The power increase was so noticeable that is shocked me. But I didn't want to do that too often.
