Steering wheel vibration at higher speeds question

Hey guys,

I have a lowered cl type s without a camber kit, I had contiextremecontact tires on originally with the springs and shocks and I felt a small amount of vibration from the steering wheel at higher speeds. I recently got the same size (215/50/17) Toyo T1-S put on and got a balance and alignment when put on. The steering wheel shakes more before, but nothing to violent, but noticable if I am thinking about it, is it maybe from the aggressive tread pattern, or what else could it be?

wheel balancing my friend.

It's usually the cause of higher speed vibration.

It could also be your wheels, if they have the tiniest bend it will shake at high speeds. Happened to me once, i had my tires aligned and re-aligned and still had the same problem, this was with brand new rims.

Yea my wheels are probably bent, the car is lowered on 91 load rating and I have hit some hard bumps/potholes before, might be slighly bent, but I cant see any bend and its not bad enough to get new rims, whats the best balancing machine out there and who has it, ill try that first

warped rotors will do that but you should also have vibration when braking

Could be the rims. Could be warped rotors. Swap the front wheels with the back & see if it goes away.
The best wheel balancer would be the Hunter GSP9700. It will tell you if the rim is bent.

Yeah I am having this problem to...but it only happens up high like at 80mph. Do tire balancers only go up to 60 MPH or are there ones that check higher? It could be my rims to (stock) guess one might be bent.

I have major vibration and pulling issues. believe it or not I think I may have damaged a belt in the tire when I hit a storm drain at 80mph. called "radial walk". its actually causing the car to pull to the left. I had the alignment checked and it was dead on. but still pulls. just been too lazy to switch to stock tires to see if the problem gets fixed. soon I will have to switch back for the winter so i'll figure it out then.

but even before this problem my rims ALWAYS had a slight shake at like 65 then it would go away, I had them rebalanced 3 times at 3 different places and it would never go away. just the price of having rims I guess.

Wheel balancing...is the cause of most vibration problems at freeway speeds. The pull could be from warped rotors like someone else suggested.

My Altima suffers from the same problem.

I believe it is from warped rotors, so I am just waiting for the pads to wear completely.
My car will shake over 65 mph, 5 seconds, and then go away for 5 secs, and so on the cycle repeats. I already moved the rims back and forth. I even changed tires.

I have some vibrations upon cold start offs, and usually goes away within a few mins.

Well mine are stocks rims, and i got an alignment with my new tires, but of course the back camber is off a little bit, my car does pull to the right where it didnt before even with the drop, and when i did get the drop originally and now, the steering wheel is very slightly crooked when going straight

i hit a curb once at like 25 mph and my left front rim is making my car shake from 58-65 mph. annoying as hell but i'm learing to live with it. scared that if i put them on the back, then the back will shake. who knows...
