High pitch whine with replaced tranny
Has anyone (who has had the original tranny replace), noticed a high pitch whine with the new tranny?
I am currently on my second transmission. The high pitch whine has been there as soon as they installed it, and I drove it home.
Any thoughts? Moderators, can you please leave my post in this forum so I can get a few responses?
Thanks,
Kevin

Well, a whine was the exact reason that my CLS is currently in having its transmission replaced. TypeR, it's not normal. My CLS did not make the whine when I first got it or for the first 15k miles or so.

I had my original tranny replaced about 4 months ago. The whine was there as soon as I got it back. It has not gotten any worse, but not gotten any better either.
It's high pitched and increases in pitch and intensity as the RPM's increase.
I have not noticed any power loss, and the replaced tranny seems to shift okay for the most part.
It does seem to have a hard time downshifting at very low speeds. If I almost come to a complete stop (brake to 2 or 3 mph), but then accelerate, the trannys seems to have a hard time shifting smoothly. It will kind of lag for a split second and then catch the gear (after the downshift) and lurch forward.
Don't know if this is just the normal tendency for the CL tranny - because my first one behaved like this too. It's kind of sad. Reminds me of a Dodge tranny - and Dodge is notorious for their transmissions.
Thanks moderators for leaving my post. You guys gave me some good info.
