Hi-flow Cat

Has anyone bought/installed one of these?

http://www.hottexhaust.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=42603

If so, did it net any gains, better sound, etc?

just go and buy an RT cat from excellerate the about the same price and you get a pretty good power increase over stock plus your supporting our vendors

A replacement cat is listed at almost $1400.

Thats a big discrepancy for a stock and a after market part. There may be a million reasons for it, but I feel like this does throw up a red flag.

Isn't that just a direct replacement cat? You won't see anything if it is. You need a high flow aftermarket 1.

The Random Tech cat generally has a higher flow rate (less of a cell count) than most other cats out there. That is more of a OE replacement.

This the product description "OBDII EPA and CARB approved high flow catalytic converter assembly". So it is a high-flow cat. Also it can be had for 225.25 after the 15% discount.

I was just wondering if something like this would show gains. Has anyone with a CL ever dynoed with R/T cat?

Doesn't matter what it says. It's just a plain direct fit OEM replacement. That's what Magnaflow sells. I got 1 for my Explorer. It said the same thing, but it's only a OE replacement.

magnaflow takes the car-sound cat, and welds piping/bungs/flanges to make it direct fit.

this is still a good find bc it is a direct fit and OE replacement for those creeping up on high miles who might have failing cats due to running rich.

The RT cat makes some power. There were some dynos a while back showing about 8-10whp. The stock cat I believe is 900 cell so to upgrade to 300 cell is a stark improvement.

I just got these back in stock too.

yes it shud be but i think u might need some custom work for it to fit. nothin a muffler shop cant handle. How loud is the muffler with the RT, i guess one could just run a straight pipe there if it wont confuse or mess up ur o2 sensors.

unichip
UNO pulleys
RT cat
CT hders
thats shud do sum jumping in hp nos 4 an NA

Yes. For the Type S you may need to enlarge the holes on the exhaust flange on the catback side. And you will need to extend the 02 sensor wire, which we sell a plug and play extension for $35. But it does not require an ECU tune.
