End result is okay for the paint had laying around. But, now the valve covers look worse. Guess that will be next.

Btw, the prank parts adapter wouldn't clear the skunk2 tb unless I used 2 thermal gaskets.

When contacting Prank about it, they said "That's a frustrating problem. All the throttle bodies I tested cleared ok but there are always changes. P2R makes some tb spacers but if 2 gaskets is working I would try that."
Painting one part is never enough, lol. It looks really good though. The silver makes it look brand new. The black is always a good choice for the top plate as well. That top plate is easier than the raised Acura logo one. That's something I struggled with a lot. Might end up redoing mine completely while my car is down. Want it to match the transmission.

Two more thermal gaskets, means 2x less heat soak.

Thanks to the yard combing skills of @Thefireball an idea has come to fruition...

Test fit with spare head, spare cam & no valve springs.

As expected a stock CL valve cover won't fit.

I can't get over how good that paint looks on the valve cover.

I look forward to seeing how this goes. Here's to hoping it goes over well.

Wohoo, this tread is so exiting! That's a nice looking Prelude. Is it hard to supercharge your engine?

Thanks, I hardly drive the prelude or the 6G tbh. Daily is j35 8th gen accord coupe 6spd.

Not very difficult to sc. The comptech kit was essentially a bolt on package. The problem for 2nd gens and even the 3g is finding a complete kit in usable condition. Rotrex is more modern, and the output for its size makes it more popular than roots style.

Been away from this thread for a while. Perhaps now is a good time for an update. After the misadventures in final drives, decided to direct my attention and in turn pocketbook on power.

The motor is now completely apart. But, with any luck it may be back together this month.

A few snippets for anyone who cares...

btw, thanks again to Thefireball for these rockers.

Well after the last post I switched back to normal rocker arms for two reasons. 1) the car was idling really high which made it super loud and 2) need to put some break in miles on the new setup before going full tilt.

So that said, have been street driving the car the last 4-5 days, putting some miles on and doing some data logs. After some experimentation I now can view the log data and use it to adjust the tune. About 12 tune revisions later, the car feels super torquey and is a bit of a handful at WOT.

However, realizing I'm not a tuner scheduled a dyno tune at a shop in Phoenix a couple weeks from now. Hoping to see at least 300whp NA. Yes, I did tease about nitrous before and would eventually like to try for 400whp. But, the current bottle is about 9yrs old, and may not even be safe to use anymore... which ultimately means it will have to wait.

Lastly, I located a race track not too far away. So hopefully after the tune can take the car for some test passes.

Hey guys, figured I'd bump this for anyone who may remember when this thread started.

For those who don't, about 2yrs ago I had a supercharged CLS6 MT, and was considering swapping the motor to my 00 prelude or 01 accord coupe chassis along with a J35 conversion. At the time I opted for the accord coupe since many of the CL parts swapped over. But, in the back of my mind I still wanted to j-swap my 5th gen prelude, one day.

Well, fast forward to now and I have 2 projects in work. The first is a H23 vtec del sol, which was the setup in the prelude. The second is a j swap for the same prelude which will likely be using my original J32a2 block, MT harness and CLS6 ecu.

Anyways, enough rambling, here's a quick test fit pic:

For now the plan is to finish the del sol, then start inventoring parts for the j swap prelude. I have a lot of engines and spare parts to go thru, so it may be a while.

Later all

Not yet, it's parked for now. Too many other things I'm working on like this beater del sol:

btw, here's one more pic, testing if the prelude hood would close...
Yep, it will with rear spacers.

Had a chance to comb thru some part stashes. Was able to get j35a8 lower runners, injectors, fuel rails, water inlet/outlet bolted up. Also set aside some RL cams and j35a8 rods/pistons.

Still going to need quite a few small things... So, instead of tring to source all the items separately, decided to look for a j35a3. As luck would have it there's one locally, and it's pretty cheap.

Picked up a j35a3 for $250 from a local wrecking yard today. Bonus, they pulled the motor and loaded it on trailer for free.

Doesn't look too bad for 20+ yrs old. Only notable damage was cut eng harness, broken tps sensor and fan switch. I have more, so no big deal. Plugs look clean and the timing belt and water pump appear to have been done relatively recent.

Here's one more shot after some excess parts were removed. I'm really only interested in using this motor for parts, not to run as is.

619rcr, I found the label on the left harness, you mentioned, on my 6 speed & it appears that they (factory) adds an extra digit for some reason, check it out:
#5 32120-S3M-A20 Genuine Acura Wire Harness, Driver Side Cabin (acurapartswarehouse.com)

so maybe you can utilize the ebay one you found for the TL-S?

Cool, thanks @zeta ... I vaugely recall seeing something similar on the CLS A/T engine harness I procured for my original swap. I don't have any autos to compare to, so I'm likely going to take a gamble on one of those ebay harnesses. I really only need the C101 & C102 plugs.

Funny, when I went to upload those pics earlier today I found some pics of the 6GA j swap ...

Not sure, though my best guess is that it (the extra number) has something to do with the actual production year since my CL-S6 was made March '02.

Seems like I guessed right about the tl eng bay harness.

c101 & c102 plugs

Also decided it would be easier to run AEM standalone vs the oem MT ecu. Another AT engine harness is on the way.

Well TL auto engine harness finally showed up and plugs into c101 and c102 as it should...

Also just won an auction on a used AEM infinity ecu w/harness. Which as some know Holley discontinued, so pretty psyched about that.

Beater H23 vtec del sol is running, just a few small things to wrap up. Hopefully will be starting J35 prelude build in Jan. Happy Holidays all.

That motor tucks into the prelude's engine bay rather nicely!
In addition, those 03 CL-S wheels look great on that 'soon to be a beast' ホンダ・プレリュード.

Thanks Zeta, I do like the look. But, with an estimated 100 ft lbs more torque than the H, pretty sure I'll need to run a sticky 235 width tire. That is if I want any traction...
