help me do this right...Carbon Fiber M5 Spoiler!

Hey guys,

Ok, so i'm the one who bought a replica M5 spoiler, had it painted, and it wouldn't hold. then glued it, ouch, wouldn't hold. now the GLUE IS STUCK THERE.

so, i bought a Carbon Fiber M5 spoiler, hopin it'd be a LIL MORE FLEXIBLE. but no, it's still rock hard.

so i'm going to do it right this time. HOW DO I MAKE THIS SPOILER FIT THE LINES OF MY CAR WITHOUT POPPING UP?? It seems WAY TOO STRAGIHT and not bent enough!

Do i heat with a heat gun? hair dryer? what??
What else do you do with this thing so i don't fuck up my car again??

Why didn't you do it right the first time and buy a real M5 spoiler?

heat it up and let it cool off in the new shape. It should retain that shape, Then stick it on with 3m tape not glue.

That's weird, I had my M5 lip spoiler installed w/ no problems what-so-ever. It was installed using the 3M tape and some glue by a body shop. Had no "pop-up" problems at all and I had it there for a year/year and half. No to mention it was run over by a dual-action polisher several times.

its how i did it. i got 2 short bolts with nuts. first you put the spoiler on with the tape that is on it. then at the very end of each side you drill a hole through the spoiler and then into the trunk lid. if you look under the trunk top there are spots on each side that are very thin and you can easily drill through them so dont worry. then after you get through switch drill bits to one that is larger than the top f the bolt and drill about have way through the lip, ths way the top of the bolt wont me blatently sticking out. then tighten each side (bolt+nut). if you want pictures i can take some of mine. i also reccomend you put some masking tape over where your going to drill to increase friction so it doesnt slip and dig into your car. if you have a rough circle with plastic pushed up due to the drilling you can just shave it with a razor blade.

i'm sorry to tell you this, but no matter what you do to the cf spoiler, it will not become flexible.

Poly lip spoilers can be heated and bent. A cf lip spoiler will stay rigid no matter what you do. If you overflex it it'll just crack on you.

just a little elmers glue or wood glue and then just bolt it down. Just drill right into your trunk. Use a stainless steel grill brush to get the existing glue off :dog:

Dont get him drilling holes in his trunk...atleast let him try to get the spoiler on regularly...cause I have a feeling he might fuck it up drilling holes in the trunk

ohh man I was kidding. Dont actually do that. Drilling holes in your trunk is definatly not necessary or using wood glue. Just use 3m or BMW M5 adhesive tape from c-c-c.
