Headlight Advice

I've been having lighting problems for months now and I don't know what else I can do. First, one of my headlights went out about a month before my other one failed. I bought bulbs (before checking the ballasts - I know, DUMB) and found out it wasn't the problem.

I bought 2 used ballasts and both lights would come on, then they would turn off after about 15 seconds. If I switched the lights off and on again, they would come back on and stay on. After a few weeks, the passenger side light stopped coming on, but the driver light stayed on after being switched off and on again. I figured it was another bad ballast...

Today, I turned them on and now the passenger light came on, but the driver side light won't. WTF???!!! I still have to turn the lights on, wait for them to turn off and then flip the switch off and on to stay on.

I'm at a total loss here... Is it a bad relay? Any other suggestions? I haven't done any mods that involve the electrical system. I even put in a new battery a month or two ago. Any help is appreciated!!

I even did that, but didn't know how to wire the Phillips ballasts to the lamps... I posted in a thread asking for a wiring diagram or DIY and didn't get any response.

It makes sense in theory, but I think it's a 5 wire (old) to a 3 wire (new) setup. I don't know what goes where, so that's why I made the post about the wiring diagram. If I had that, I could knock it out in an hour or two.

Check your HID fuses. They have been known to blow when a ballast goes. Also check all your grounds.

Update: I got in my car this morning. It was freezing out (for CA, anyway) at 36 degrees and neither headlight would stay on until I clicked 'em on and off for about 2 minutes. When one finally came on and stayed on, it worked the rest of the trip. I parked for about 15 minutes and when I turned them back on I had to play with the switch again and only the other light came on. WTF is going on? Really! I need some help, can someone shed some light on this?

Fuzzy, where are the grounds I need to check?
