Header Question. . .

I'm looking into getting some Comptech headers, but have one concern. I heard from a few people told me that if I put headers on my car, it will dramatically change the sound of my exhaust and make the car extremely loud and obnoxious. Is this true? Will I lose the greatt sound of my Greddy's if I put headers on? Any info/help will be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!~

Can't speak for aftermarket exhaust, but with a stock exhaust, headers barely make a noticable difference in sound besides maybe being a slightly deeper tone, but definitely not louder. Hope that helps.

i got my Comptech headers put on this week and while my car is noticeably louder, i wouldn't say it's extremely louder or obnoxious. i actually like the deeper tone better

So its just a little bit deeper/throatier. . .hmm, I could actually use a little bit of that lol. . .it could compensate for my Icebox not being as loud as the AEM and other intakes!!!

You will barely notice it. Actually, you may be the only the notices it. The Evo II will definitely over power the sound of the headers. I have both CT headers and the Evo II catback.

They sound very good together. The only difference you may tell is that the exhaust note becomes slightly deeper.

PM me if you need a Comptech header.

CL's and TL's sound great with just the headers and stock exhaust... it's when you add mufflers to the mix where you get things a little too loud...

There's a reason that Comptech sells a quiet tip insert for their axle back exhaust

You'll be fine with just the headers...

agreed. the headers with a stock exhaust shouldn't really be noticable but i do notice them a bit with the comptech exhaust but its at an acceptable level

power gains are VERY noticeable. reset ur ecu by unplugging ur battery for a few minutes (remember to reset your auto driver-side window. in manual).

as for sound, it's not louder.. its more like deeper. i have stock and sounds a bit more towards the g35 exhaust.

I'm sure it wont sound bad with the EVO II's. . .they could actually use a little more bass/deepness to them!

i have the ct headers and the rt cat combo. the gains from the headers alone are noticeable. with the rt cat my my rpm runs 200 or so lower then before. i'm assuming it's because there is less restriction. at any rate the headers will give you noticeable gains.

There is no noise difference if you stick to stock mufflers and CT headers. This is my present set up on my CL-S. It's sweet!!!

Well I guess i'll just have to wait and see how they sound with the Greddy's. . .If I like it, and it's not loud and annoying I'll go with it. . .If I dont, I still got my stock exhaust so I'll just throw that back on, sell the greddy's and get a few hundred bucks towards the rims I plan on gettin!!

I put on the CT headers on first and later added the CT exhaust. The headers barely changed the stock sound, but added a lot of performance... most noticable after 4K RPM. The exhaust adds a better exhaust note, but no performance. The stock CLS exhaust is free flowing.

When i first got the CT exhaust it sounded really good. After a year it is noticably louder... not sure of you will experience this with the Greddy.

With an auto you may notice a highwy "drone". I found that pretty annoying on my last CL as it was right at highway cruising speed (about 70). My 6MT is geared differentlly so I don't notice it at all.

Oops... didn't notice that you had a 6MT. You will have no problem... in fact you will love the sound!

On another topic... how is your traction? Wheel hop user to be a big problem for me with the 6MT till I installed an engine damper... you may want to give this some thought.

Bolts right up to your stock cat. You'll be fine.

yes, changing the exhaust is more for the sound/look than performance. That is if you're NA.
