I cant afford a brand new one.. I can afford maybe a 1999 or 2000 model with a few miles on it..But have you notcied about the benzs are that even a 10 year old benz still looks great on the road. So i dont mind if i get the current body style and the new one come out.. Hopefully everyone will know the new body style will come out so i can get a better deal on the 2000 CLKs, im sure people will try to get rid of them for the new style.

I dont think you can get the amg package on the 320.. i know that you can buy the amg bodykit and wheels aftermarket. Im pretty sure i wont get the bodykit anytime soon, but im gonna try to save up for some chrome 18inch amg wheels, hopefully by next spring.

Damn, you boys here have dough boy!!!.......I don't know how your tax returns work down in the states but up here in Canada we get the shaft!!!....i'm only getting back $300 stinking dollars(and think about it, that's Canadian $) and that seemed like a pretty good return cause it's a RETURN rather than having to pay like most of my fellow Canadian chumps

Good luck on the car! As for the tax returns, any money you get back is money you loaned the government interest free. Better to adjust your witholdings on your W-4 so that you have more take home pay. That extra money you can invest and get something back on it.
My $.02.

the interest that would be earned over the course of the year on this tax money "loaned" to the government is practically nothing... $2000 at 4% cd or t-bill rate? a whopping $81. *with* monthly compounding (and it'd be less with quarterly compounding). and the average federal tax refund for individuals is prolly a bit less than that.
*and* you'd have to invest the entire amount up front to achieve that return, which isn't really what happens with taxes withheld from biweekly or monthly paychecks or amounts paid in as quarterly estimated tax payments over the course of the year.
in fact, most people are probably better off with the "forced savings" effect of over-withholding, as americans in general simply don't save (invest) enough money in the first place. the refund received at the end of the year is, in practice, that year's savings for many people.
so, I'd say leave the withholding alone if you are comfortable with the status quo.

Dude... go for a slightly used '00 CLK430 or '99 430 even.
I love the CLK but when I drove the 320 before I bought the CL it was too timid.
Go for a 430.

I been trying to look for a clk430.. but they are pricred to high.. even a 99 clk 430 is priced high.. but if i can ill try for that first. Im not one for the speed, i rather just get some chrome wheels and just RIDE! Something like this.. this is a clk320 with only 18 chrome amg wheels..no body kit.

Also know that the new generation of the CLK is coming out in about a year and a half which will make your car lose value faster once out. I posted a thread about this a week or so ago. Search for it if you care.

Well i cant wait a year and a half, my lease is up on my current car in june. Plus im not buying a brand new one. Im going to buy a 99 or a 2000. Even if the new body style comes out.. mercedes still holds value quite well.

About the Merc value point, I cant argue with that.
About you not being able to wait, cant argue with that either.
About the fact you are getting a slightly used one, I think you are doing the right thing. They lose a lot of their value after a year and are still in excellent shape.
Let me tell you though that the CLK 430 Coupe will not cost you really MUCH more to get. Check out the pricing and you will see it is not far off. Just in case you have not checked it out, you might find out that you can afford it. Test-drive it though becasue the ride is much harsher than the CLK 320's. One would expect similar rides but not the case they say. Performance wise the CLK 430 is similar to our car believe it or not. Although it will feel faster because it's got a lot more torque everywhere in the rev band. And sometimes how a car feels is what it is all about.
