Got pulled over by CHP for lights and plate

A CHP rode on new BMW 1200 pulled me over and gave me a long list of ticket:
Illegal Front Turn signal - Blue;
Illegal Rear Turn Signal - Blue;
Illegal Back up lights - Blue;
Illegal front windows Tints;
No front Licnese plate;

And the worse charge is 58 on 50 Damn!!!!

And he even gave me a website to check for street legal modifications. For all Californians:

It's 75% light tint, but he is bitching me that the front windows cannot be tinted!! Check the stupid CHP site you'll know.

To change all bulbs and put the plate back is ok, but the tint is pain in the ass to clear . Sucks!!!

Well, these are fix it tickets. I have cop friends that sign off my fix its so I never have to do anything. Just pay the stupid 10 dollar fix it ticket.
It sounds like the cop was just bored and wanted to target you. Sux. Sorry to hear that.

Believe it or not. I got caught on a freaking local road. It's fullerton X pathfinder. I didn't know CHP has jurisdiction on local!

I'm sorry, I have to agree with obnoxious Jim on this one -- if break the law then don't get annoyed when you are ticketed.

Yes, these are all fix-it tickets, but they do need to be fixed (if you don't have connections like mushutofu seems to be privileged to have ). The pain of the fix-it ticket is not the cost in dollars, but the cost in time. You'll have to waste 1/2 day to get a peace officer to sign off on your fixes and then go to the court clerk to clear the charge. A pain in the ass, if you ask me.

I think the cops have every right to enforce the front tints. Their job is dangerous enough without having to worry if this pull-over for speeding 58 in a 50 zone will result in their death. If they cannot see you, you are a threat. If you are a threat, they are going to be less lenient on you for the petty issues.

The front license plate is being enforced more and more in southern California now that a lot of locales have installed enforcement cameras at red lights. They work based on taking a picture of the front of the car with your face in the windshield and the license plate in plain view. No front plate -- no way to enforce the ticket. They need front plates to get the system to work for them. This information is from a LAPD officer and a CHP officers that I've met.

Front license ticket is no longer a fix it but a 100 dollar fine in San Francisco due to the adoption of the red light cameras. Can't get that one written off no more.

yea, alot of county's are changing things. Some city's don't give out fix-it tickets period and they are all fines now, the good thing is you can just pay the fine and not replace things, but the fines are pricey

Yeah, better be careful, I think the same bike cop sits on the corner of Valley X Fairway. CHP patrols county roads, but has jurisdiction in all of CA.

Hey Jackson,
Sorry to hear that bro.... You and I have the same light mods so I hope I don't get pulled over. Thanks for letting us know about CRAZY CHP in RH area. Well, look at it this way, it should only be a fix-it ticket, but the speeding, i can't say anything about that. All I can say is extend the ticket 2 times and go fight it......I did that and CHP never shows up to court. Usually only local cops will show.

Damn, did you piss the cop off or something. He just pulled you over for speeding, then gave you a bunch of tickets just like that? Must have had a bad day or something.

I know from personal experience (incident with friend in my youth) and from talking to a number of officers in casual conversation -- as I said above -- California (and I'm sure all) police officers do not like front window tint, and are not too keen on tint at all. They are honestly worried that when they approach an unknown situation, even one as simple as a traffic stop, that they will be killed or shot at. If they cannot see you when they approach the car, they are threatened, and will take a threatened posture (and give you all sorts of tickets).

My : get rid of that illegal front tint, make sure your rear tint is legal. When you are pulled over, roll down your window (even if it's raining), and put both hands on the steering wheel in plain view. When the cop askes for your license and registration, ASK politely if you can reach to your wallet/glove box for it. Have it in an easy to find spot. Don't fumble under the seat for crap.

If you keep the officer at ease, he may treat you a little more fairly.

IMHO, YMMV...

Is your front turn signal blue or super white? Front turn signals have to be amber or white. Super white is still white...so i think you can fight that. You can argue that it doesn't emit blue wavelength light...it's WHITE!!!!
