Is this a good price for a 2002 BMW X5??? Should Dad get it?
My DAD knows someone who unfortunately has to sell their X5 because the husband lost his job.
It's a 2002, with 5800 miles on it. Titanium Silver.
It doesn't have much on it... Cold weather package, auto. transmission and a Moonroof. That's it!!! Sticker was around $42,500 or so...
They're willing to get rid of it for $36,000. They bought the car at a distant dealer, and my Dad would service it at the local BMW shop, so he'd lose the perks, such as free loaners. But at least the warrany is transferable.
So... Is this a good deal? It's really bare bones, but he's 57 and is just looking for a nice SUV. He's also considering the ML-Class from Mercedes, the MDX from Acura and the RX300 from Lexus.
Suggestions? Data on used 2002s are hard to find it seems.

If he wants an SUV for extra cargo or passenger room, then the X5 is useless.
The MDX would be more reliable and have way more cargo and passenger room.
If he wants to do the friend a favour though that's another story.
But remember that even a Mazda P5 holds more cargo than the X5.

I take it that you're referring to the V6 one.
BAG IT. Not enough power.
