A golf ball and a window

Just pulled out of my garage, going for an evening drive, when BAM - sounded like a shotgun going off. Back window exploded from an errant golf ball. My wife was in the back seat but it came in the other side. The whole window fell inside the car - glass everywhere. Fortunately the tee box is only 100 yards off my back yard so I found the guy quickly. Anyone know what it might cost to replace?

225- 275 $$$$$$ to replace. Make sure you go to a reputable shop to so they get a good seal in the rear.

link doesn't work...

Ouch. Sry to hear that. Is the guy gonna cover the damages? If so take it to Acura so that the repairs are warrantied through them.

Oh and the link is good, the pic is good, the damages are baddddd .

Well if would help. U might be able to find a good reputable by smashing out the rear window of his CLS and seeign where he goes .

I don't know if you have navi in your car or not, but if you do then the guy is F**KED. I was told by the dealer when I pick up my car that it costs close to $2k to replace the back window for navi cars because of the navi antenna. Maybe the sales guy is exaggerating a bit, but I am sure it will be more than a few hundred dollars for part and labor of hooking up the GPS antenna again. =p

That sucks man!! It will cost a lot more than $225 - $275. You can pick up a replacement rear window for $588.11 @ Acuraautomotiveparts.com. Here is the link http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net/...QUARTER+WINDOW

Best of luck with getting your rear window replaced.

The GPS antenna is not part of the rear windows, but the radio antenna is.

I would most reccomend talking to the golf course. They usually carry insurance just for this reason. Most upper class courses should cover this.

Thanks for the link to Acura Carland. I see they say only one terminal is required - There was a wire attached to a terminal on both the left and right sides. I'm guessing one is defrost and one is the radio; there may be a third terminal at the top center of the window - not sure.

I'll be calling Acura. I do have navi - if there is a possibility the navi is tied into this I want it fixed right.

The NAVI antenna is definitely NOT part of the rear glass. It’s UNDER the rear parcel shelf and should be OK.

I had something similar happen about 10-Years ago but it was the front windshield that got hit.
I thought someone had SHOT the car but it was a golf ball that hit just above the wiper blade of my 88 Daytona Shelby-Z and shattered it top to bottom.
The glass didn’t fall in like the above picture, but I was finding fragments of glass scattered inside the car for YEARS.
It was a public golf course so they didn’t have insurance to cover it.
I found the guy that hit the ball and his homeowner policy ended up paying for it under the liability coverage.

Thanks. Glad to hear the navi isn't going to boost the cost. The guy who hit the ball sounded pretty decent and I'd hate to see his errant shot cost $$$$$$. Hell, I've duck hooked my own drive over houses on this course.

There are about 350 homeowners here who own the course we live on. Its public - one of the cheapest plays around and I've never heard of them (ie us) covering broken windows.

I used a shop vacuum and a house vacuum - think I got most of the glass sucked out of the seats and cracks.

I've never been good with statistics but we lose a house window once every two years. They have 10x the window area facing the fairway. My car is in the garage - always. It hit me driving out in about a 10sec span of exposure. The chance has got to be as slim as Saddam becoming a peacenik.

how did you find out who hit your car? unless he's the only guy in the course and he admitted it. or else, it'll be pretty hard to find out, right?

damn, I figured that link would come back to haunt me. But my image hoster was having problems with direct linking....

So, you are probably wondering what kind of phobia makes someone wear googles and an oven mitt to take pictures? I am sane really....thats what my state appointted psychiatrist says.

The truth is less exciting. I am on a photography forum where a new camera owner posted a warning from the instruction book advising owners not to poke out their eye when adjusting the diopter setting. I advised him to use the technique in my pic.

There were four guys walking off the tee box when I approached. This guy admitted right away it was his ball. Normally, though, its impossible to find the guy if I'm not home. I have a broken den window right now as well. But, the house is 100 yards off the tee box and people may not hear glass breaking or see the damage. They aren't allowed on the homeowners property.
