General question about stick shifts

Many cars have vibration in their stick shifts... why doesn't ours?

Hell yeah like any ford mustang, they shake like crazy. I do agree the cl6 has a smooth low vibe stick, maybe its all in the mounts.

I am looking for a new shift knob any recommendations? So far all I have thought of is the TL shift knob which I hear sits lower. I am not really looking to shorten the shifter (at least not now).

i daily a mustang and with those cars the shifter connected via steel rods or directly into the tranny. the acura shiftbox is plastic and connected via cables that do not transmit vibrations. i believe the g35 has vibrations in their shifter, again due to the RWD and transmission being right there.

umm mine does?
I do have the dampener bypassed however.

You want to feel vibration & not go anywhere? Drive a stick V6 bronco II.

Add the aluminum shifter bushings and you'll feel more.

yeah. RWD cars always have those vibrations.

like distortedolskool mentioned, RWD cars have tranny right under the shift boot and the shifters are connected directly to the tranny, and in our FWD, the tranny is upfront in the engine bay and the shifters are connected via calbes which basically eats all the vibrations.

I have had the bushings for over three years. They work well and add no vibrations. The big difference between the vehicles that vibrate and ours is that those are RWD and the stick is connected directly to the transmission housing which is connected wthout isolators directly to the engine. On the CLS the shifter is connected to the chassis and flexible cables run to the trans. I have no noticable vibration in nine unless you push out of a gear without the clutch. Wana feel vibration, go drive an 01-02 s2000 between 6-9K RPM for an hour. My hand was numb but I was happy as a school boy

We have shift cables that cut down the vibration big time. I'd trade the cables for rod shifters in a heart beat. Much better shift.

^ Most that have vibration and movement are attached to the trans directly (ie. RWD) Ours are connected via cables which reduce it.

Thanks for the answers. So generally FWD cars have non-vibrating sticks (heh heh that sounds funny) whereas RWD cars don't?
